Ogden, Utah is home to the world’s second oldest commercial shooting range, founded in 1892. It has been a center of ammunition production for over a century and today is one of the most important firearms manufacturing centers in the United States. The Ogden Armory has an extensive collection of rifles, shotguns, handguns and other weaponry from around the world. The Ogden Arsenal was opened in 1892 by Wm. H. Ogden as part of his efforts to improve gunnery techniques in Utah during its time as an unincorporated territory. After years of experimentation with new ammunition types and brands, the first shot off at the Arsenal was fired on July 4th, 1895 by Captain James Hutton using a Spencer rifle that he had purchased from Samuel Colt himself. The arsenal continued to be used intermittently until 1917 when it closed due to wartime restrictions on ammunition production in America. After World War I ended hostilities there were renewed efforts to reopen the Arsenal with new ownership but this too proved unsuccessful due to lack of funds and competition from more established arsenals throughout Utah City and Salt Lake City. In 1925 Armament Corporation was formed with intentions of restarting Ammunition Production at the Arsenal with modern methods including large-scale testing facilities and computerized munitionsproduction JU-87 rounds became available for purchase by civilians beginning in 1930 The last shipment of American Muzzleloading Ammunition (AMMO) arrived at the Arsenal on January 3rd, 1933 . On November 15th 1938 armament corporation merged into Winchester Repeating Arms Company which continues manufacture ammo products today under multiple brand names including Winchester among others

In 1836 George Selden created what would eventually become known as black powder cartridge fame with his invention of the rifle shot. This new propellant-driven cartridge allowed shooters to shoot very high powered munitions such as cannonballs and cannons from long distances without having them explode like normal cartridges did. Black powder cartridges were soon being used by militaries all around the world and because they could be fired from artillery pieces and rifles they became one of the most popular arms in history! Later on in 1849 Johann Muller developed a round calledahole which was specifically designed for use with black powder firearms. This new round had a cylindrical core made out of brass instead of wood or paper so it couldn’t burst like traditional rounds did when detonated on impact
The first time ammunition was used in combat was at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. The Union army had a large number of cannons and riflemen that were able to fire shot and shell, while the Confederate army only had artillery. This resulted in an Exchange of Fire that killed over 100 people and wounded over 600.
Ogden, Utah is a city in Utah and the county seat of Ogden County. The population was 97,527 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Great Salt Lake Valley on the edge of Cache Valley National Park and Uinta Mountains. Ogden was founded by Captain David Waddell on April 12, 1847 as part of what is now Weber County. It became part of Davis County on March 6, 1878. On February 14, 1896, it became a city under an act of Congress. The current mayor is Spencer Cox. The first permanent settler in Ogden was Capt David Waddell who arrived on April 12th 1847 from Illinois with his family and built a cabin near present day Unionville while留ing out land grants from Brigham Young for himself and others. In 1850 Capt Waddell married Sarah Ann Potter and they started to farm southwest of their current home which would later become known as West Ogden Township (now East Ogden Township). They had 4 children: David (1851-1914), Emily Jane (1853-1941), George Washington (1855-1932) and Ruthven Bicknell Potter (1859-1945). In 1863 when Davis County was created there were only 10 families living here so Capt Waddell donated all his land holdings to Davis County for $10 per acre including 5% water rights which he held until 1888 when those rights were bought by park administrators for $2 per acre plus 50% interest! So far that’s a total donation of over 1 million acres! During this time much progress was made within the new county courthouse being built on First Street south east of present day South Temple square just north of Cedar Street! This building served many purposes including courtrooms, jail cells, post office annexes etc before finally becoming its namesake – the old City Hall or “Old Courthouse” as it came to be called! Once inside we can still see remnants such as corrugated iron fencing around the outside walls which once served as prison cells for criminals during early days when prices for salt water baths could easily rival anything available at home! Oops – that might have been too close… A big event taking place in town center soon after its founding included one theater presentation with 300 people coming to see our newest play put on by Mrs John Atherton & her Son Harry Atherton directed by Pillsbury Mifflin Companymanager JH Beattie !!! Quite an accomplishment back then folks! Our beautiful new Masonic Temple completing construction across First Street from today’s LDS Church makes it difficult not to feel like things may have come full circle 😀 Other major events during this early years included Mayflower Day 1865 when locals met in surplus Huntington Clothing Storeroom to purchase 2 large flatboats Loaden+Wadsworth ferryboat tickets ($1 each)went out into Cache River where they boarded & took pictures below riverbank while enjoying sweet views👍 picture credit goes to Mrs Eva Fenton

In 1872, Ogden became the county seat of Weber County and was designated as the municipal center for Weber County. In 1902, Ogden incorporated as a city. The population declined in the early 21st century but has since rebounded with growth in new businesses and residential development around downtown Ogden.
