North Salt Lake is located on the eastern edge of Kane County and bordered by Logan to the north and east, Cache Valley to the south and west, and Spanish Fork to the northwest. Today's city was incorporated in 1984 as a result of an agreement between then-Mayor Royce Lundberg and then- Mayor Rick Santorum of Utah; both men are now deceased. Railroad passenger service ended there in 1951 but freight service continued until 1964 when all tracks were moved to Ogden for storage (the last train stopped at NorthSaltLakeCity on October 8th,1964). After that time much of what remains today of North Salt Lake's early infrastructure can be found buried under pavement along I–15 eastbound near Drumheller Road The most notable feature remaining from this era is its large shopping mall which opened in 1985 adjacent to Interstate 15/Uinta Boulevard Today North Salt Lake has regained some level of prominence as being home to many high technology companies such as Googleplex and Microsoft Headquarters .
