North Ogden, Utah is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of Kane County and is bordered by Cache Valley to the north and east, North Little Rock to the south, Brigham Young University–Hawaii Campus to the west and South Ogden to the northwest. The town was named after President George Washington's home state of Virginia. The first white settlers in North Ogden arrived in 1857 and founded a log cabin on what is now West Main Street. In 1865, they built a frame house on East Center Avenue which served as their meeting place until 1889 when they moved into what is now North Central Avenue Baptist Church. In 1893-1896 two groups of Mormons from Oregon built a farmstead called Cedar Mtn., about one mile east of present day North Ogden on Cedar Creek Road. This area became known as Cedar Vale because of its abundance of cedar trees. In 1907-1910 three more families settled here: John Atherton (Johnathan), James Wolk (Waldo) and Harry Manson (Harry). They called their new community "Ogden" after President George Washington's home state of Virginia where they had been living before coming here to Utah Territory. In 1916 an agreement was reached between representatives from Kane County and Brigham Young University–Hawaii Campus that permitted BYU students to use public lands adjacent to Kayser Field for football practice without paying any fees or taxes; this period also saw construction of Memorial Stadium on campus which served as home field for both collegiate teams until 1959 when Bryant-Denny Stadium was constructed across Kayser Field Rd.. After several years with no football team playing at Kayser Field due to lack of funds, soil exhaustion caused by heavy rains caused BYU AD Lloyd Bauer in 1941-1942 to build Kimball Auditorium oncampus which served as headquarters for sportswriters throughout most of World War II before it becameemplaced within Brown Hall during 1957-1959 renovation project The following year Kimball Auditorium was used again when LDS leaders held an executive session there related thereto regarding priesthood ordination practices Assemblies met thereon Dec 3rd 1959 To commemorate this event I placed a plaque thereon reading “This building commemorates Executive Session Held At Kimball Auditorium On December 3rd 1959 When Members Of The First Presidency discussed Priesthood Ordination Practices” . After World War II local businesses started up such as Elkhorn Grill & Bakery opened in 1949 followed by Jiffy Lube Auto Parts & Service next door later that same year; these were some early examples indicative of how today's town functions with small businesses running things such as groceries, auto parts stores etc... From 1960 thru 1969 Ogden had its own school district but when it merged with Kane County District School District #2 there were many problems since much property line change occurred resulting in large areas like South End being annexed into Kane County while other smaller areas like West End remained part Northern Davis School Districts schools until 1996 when those districts consolidated into Unified School District #1 effective September 1st 2001 When school unification came about everyone who lived inside Unified School District#1 wanted out so they formed their own group or organization called " Citizens Committee For Unification" or CCU for short which lobbied hard managed through letters/testimonials/meetings etc... finally achieving results starting August 2006 when all residents withinSD#1 received email notification inviting them participate in referendum set for November 6th 2006 concerning unification...Citizens Committee Was successful enough that all residents within SD#1 were asked if they wanted united school district #1 represented them in special election held January 10th 2007 at 7pm via voice vote Results showedwhelming majority yes! So unified school district #1 exists!!
