North Ogden, Utah is a town located in Kane County, Utah. It is the most populous city in Kane County and the second largest city overall in Utah after Salt Lake City. The population of North Ogden was estimated to be over 100,000 as of 2010. North Ogden has a humid continental climate which means that it experiences very hot and dry summers and cold and snowy winters. The first settlement in what is now North Ogden was made by Mormon missionaries on July 24, 1849. The town name comes from a location called "Ogden" on the Great Salt Lake where Brigham Young had been baptized earlier that year. In 1857, when Brigham Young created Cache Valley Indian Nation east of present-day North Ogden, he named this area for his brother John Dolan, who had helped him find the land near today's Provo Airport. The new community was originally called Provo but it changed its name to North Ogdingen after territorial governor Edward Hales approved the suggestion of Mormon apostle Wilford Woodruff. By 1870, there were 4 settlements with a total population of about 25 people each: Provo (now part of Logan), Cottonwood Heights (later renamed Dugway), Tooele (now part of Layton), and Park City (later renamed Duchesne). However, things didn’t really start happening until after World War II when many people moved to North Ogden because they found work opportunities available during that time period as oil rigs were built nearby and other industries sprung up in central Utah thanks to Interstate 20 (now I-15). Afterward, more people began moving into North OgDEN due to its location right next door to Provo City proper – making it easy to commute both ways each day! currently there are over 3 thousand people living inside North OgDEN limits while another 1400+ roam its outskirts looking forward to joining them soon!
