On December 8, 1902, a group of men gathered at the old ammunition depot in North Ogden to introduce a new type of gun swivel. They called it the "Ogden Gun Swivel." It was designed by Richard L. Garriott and John A. Sorenson and first used on rifles in 1903. The Ogden Gun Swivel became known as the "Garriott Gun Swivel."
North Ogden, Utah is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 3,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. North Ogden was founded in 1847 and named for Captain John A. North, who had been sent by Brigham Young to survey the new land on the Klamath River. The first settlers were farmers who grew corn, wheat and other crops. By 1880, there were 300 businesses in North Ogden and its surrounding areas. In that year, the city of Ogden was incorporated and North Ogden became its seat. The town prospered as a result of this industry and today has several small businesses based around it including Printing Presses Unlimited (PPU), which produces printing presses used in business; Container Solutions (CSI), which manufactures containers for food processing or distribution; Finally Energy Services (ES), which provides heating and cooling services to homes and businesses throughout Kane County. A major transportation artery through town is I-15 which runs north-south through town while US-89 runs east-west across it making it an important trade corridor for local businesses as well as Interstate 5 traffic coming into downtown Salt Lake City from many directions during peak hours
