North Ogden, Utah is a city located in the American state of Utah. As of the 2010 census, the population was 54,554. The town was founded in 1847 by Latter-day Saints who left Nauvoo, Illinois after the Mormon War. North Ogden became an agricultural center due to its location on the Great Salt Lake and its irrigation systems. The first European settlers in what is now Utah were French traders who arrived in 1795 during the Louisiana Purchase. They named their land La Provincia de los Diez Misiones (Province of Ten Missions). In 1847, Brigham Young organized a group of LDS missionaries to reach new territory west of the Mississippi River. The group journeyed overland from Nauvoo to Walker Valley where they built a farmstead called Harmony on September 15, 1847. On October 6, they erected a cross at Rice Creek to commemorate their arrival in what is now Utah Territory. On November 3rd, Young ordered all members of his church to move eastward into present-day Idaho and Oregon due to increasing Indian attacks on Missionaries traveling northward across the Great Salt Lake valley from Nauvoo.[1] In 1850–51 Isaac Merrick surveyed much of today's Davis County before giving it its current name: North Ogden Township on November 12th,[2][3] after he sighted what he thought was an ancient mound nearpresent-day Cottonwood Heights GOA (Great Salt Lake Area).[4][5][6] merrick also donated 640 acres (249 ha) adjacent to present day Cottonwood Heights GOA for development as part of Zion National Park; this parcel later became known as Merrick City because it contained most of downtown North Ogden currently known as The District.[7] comScore determined that "Ogden" ranked 5th among US cities with populations over 100k for job growth between 2008 and 2016[8] This result may be attributed partially to merrick’s donation which stimulated construction activity throughout much of downtown area including many high-rise buildings such as Mormon Temple Square that are still standing today despite being repeatedly vandalized over time

North Ogden is a town in Weber County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. North Ogden was founded by Latter-day Saints in 1847 as a small farming community on the south side of the Salt Lake Valley. The name "Ogden" comes from an incident that took place there in 1849 when Joseph Smith's brother Hyrum was killed after trying to stop some cattle from being driven off the property of Brigham Young. In 1853, North Ogden became the home of what is now Unified School District #4 and then became an autonomous school district until it merged with Unified School District #2 in 1983. The first buildings were built in1847 around a landing for ferrying goods between South Jordan and Provo (now West Valley City). By 1850, some 640 families had settled here and by 1860 there were 2 hotels and 10 stores. Farming continued to be primary during this time with crops such as wheat, oats, barley, potatoes, corn and cotton produced; however dairy production also increased during this time with butter, cheese and milk being produced from land taken up for grazing purposes only six years earlier. In 1863 Brigham Young ordered all male members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to move westward into what is now Utah Territory under threat if they did not comply. Many Mormons who wanted to stay behind moved into nearby towns such as Orem or Springdale while others took boats downriver to Great Salt Lake where they would disembark and headwest on foot or wagon train across America’s generally hostile landscape. Those heading north included many LDS foundry workers who had been brought overland from Nauvoo Illinois including George Whetstone who organized American Powder Works just outside Great Britain before he immigrated to Utah Territory in 1840 which soon became one of the largest powder mills in North America; his son Sidney also worked at American Powder Works prior to coming here himself in 1865 as general manager before retiring here permanently nine years later Many people living near Ogden decided against moving due to lack of available farmland or provideable transportation options other than walking or horseback riding which was often difficult given snow drifts high enough up aboveground for sledding or horsepacking operations . One result was that by 1870 there were only 155 residents living within a radius bounded by Promontory east (north), Fort Douglas west (south), Weber Street south (east) and Snowville east (west). However despite these challenges most residents enjoyed good health due to ample water supplies and easy access to church services which occurred either inside their homes or nearby chapels . In 1882 Union University opened its doors providing educational opportunities for students residing within Uniontown limits while elsewhere throughout Weber County more schools began operating such as Southeastern Seminary whichopened its doors in 1888; this marked the beginning of what would become known as “the four-year period” during which Northern Utah experienced rapid growth ; however much like today’s economy these institutions struggled financially during hard times .
