Midvale is a city in Utah, United States. It is the county seat of Uintah County. The population was 21,853 at the 2010 census. Midvale's municipal airport covers an area of . Midvale was founded in 1877 by Brigham Young and his family as a station on the Great Salt Lake Trail. In 1907, Midvale became an incorporated town. The city incorporated as a city on December 3, 1916 after voters approved a referendum to make it one of the first cities in Utah to be created from towns within Uintah County. On January 1, 1922, Midvale became the first municipality to pass a charter amendment granting voting rights to women citizens. On November 20, 2002, Midvale voted overwhelmingly in favor of establishing itself as an international airport with both direct and indirect flights to over thirty destinations worldwide. The downtown core has been renovated and renamed "Midvale Village" following local demand for more pedestrian-friendly streetscape design features similar to those found in larger urban areas around the world such as Tokyo or Santiago de Chile. In early 2007 Mayor Becker launched what he termed 'The Downtown Development Project II' with support from state legislators; this initiative aimed at redeveloping much of downtown into mixed-use concepts that would include office/retail space and open space for community use; however once again no progress was made during Becker's term despite increased funding sources available since then from various private investors interested in developing projects nearby Main Street rather than along Interstate 15 (the most traveled route through town). In 1911, the American Pistol Company was founded in Dearborn, Michigan by George P. Smith and Edward J. Dehner. The company made a series of pistols with a hard case to protect them during shipping. The first pistol was the Colt Python, which sold for $25 per gun in 1911. In 1927, the American Pistol Company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Corporation to form Winchester Repeating Arms Company Incorporated (WRA). In 1936, WRA became an subsidiary of The National Rifle Association (NRA) and began producing firearms under its own brand name including actions for Remington Arms and Savage Arms. In 1969, NRA bought out WRA's shares and all firearms production stopped at that point. In 1998-1999 Winchester Manufacturing Co., Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of WRA resumed production of shotguns using resources from surplus Auto Ordnance ammunition stores located outside Detroit, Michigan and also produced revolvers under contract from several other manufacturers including Colt and Smith & Wesson handguns as well as riflesunder license from Beretta Firearms USA. This arrangement continued until 2003 when Winchester Manufacturing Co., Inc., ceased operations because it could not compete with low cost Chinese manufacturers who were starting to produce high quality products under similar licenses.[1]
