A mission station was established here in 1868 by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS church). In 1906 Mormon pioneers moved into this valley from Salt Lake City after finding land for their community on Black Mesa east of downtown Midvale. In 1970s Midvale experienced a population boom due to development along I-15 which led to growth in nearby Provo and Cottonwood Heights as well as other nearby towns. Today's Midvale contains many businesses including banks, grocery stores/markets, several hotels/motels, daycare centers/preschools as well as dozens of smaller businesses that have been developed over time such as carpentry shops and shoe stores. There are also several churches including LDS temple services which take place here each weeknight during full moon nights.

Midvale, Utah is a small town located in the Wasatch Front region of Utah. The population was 3,471 at the 2010 census. Midvale is part of the Provo-Orem metropolitan area and is home to BYU-Hawaii football, soccer and basketball programs as well as several other schools. The town was named for Mormon convert George Midvale. The first permanent settler in what is now Midvale was J.H.C. Price in 1875. Price's family had come from Illinois and he established a store in what is now Midvale on December 10th, 1875. At that time it was an unincorporated community located within Butte County. In 1893, Brigham Young designated Midvale as the site of his new headquarters for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). LDSchurch built its first temple in this location on November 8th, 1896 with funds donated by John Ddenbaugh and others associated with the original Provo land transaction which included Midvale property acquisition and development along Utah State Route 12A (now Interstate 15). On July 24th, 1924, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his famous "24 Hours or More" speech from Salt Lake City's Jordan Hall before a joint session of Congress to celebrate America's victory over Nazi Germany during World War II while also touting America's newly minted social welfare program which became known as Social Security - one hundred years after President Abraham Lincoln signed legislation creating it! Among those present were Mayor Hyrum Smith and LDSChurch president James E Smith who both gave speeches lasting three hours each!

Midvale became an incorporated town on November 3, 1907. On December 12, 2008, Midvale passed a ballot measure to change its name to "Eagle Rock".
