The first electric lights appeared in 1859 when French inventor André-Jacques Conte designed an exhibitor's lamp (electricity) that used two lamps linked together by an Edison wire (figure 3). This lamp was not successful and did not gain popularity until it was duplicated by American inventor Nikola Tesla in 1899 with his AC current source (Supplementary Figure 1; Supplementary Figures 2–4). The early electric light bulb had three small glass globes that lit up during operation while the large globe exhibited steady light (figure 4) and became popularized in the late 1800s as bedrooms became more illuminated. In 1903, Thomas Edison developed two devices known as "Edisonian tubes" which produced continuous high-intensity light using carbon filament bulbs instead of oil lamps (Figure 5) In 1927, Swiss designer Albrecht Dürer designed one of the first electronic devices called an "electronic cigaretterette" which consisted of a battery operated screen which displayed pictures or music while users smoked cigars indoors (Figure 6). These early electronic cigarettes were almost immediately banned in many countries due to health concerns about nicotine ingestion! This early development in lighting led directly to later advancements such as LED technology which is still widely used today. LED lighting is able to produce much brighter images than traditional incandescent lamps because it uses super thin wires running through them rather than pillars like incandescent bulbs do. This makes LED Lighting very efficient at converting energy into photons that are visible to the human eye! LEDs also use far less energy than traditional CFL/LED streetlights so they can last longer without needing replacement

Lindon, Utah is a small town located in Weber County, Utah. It was platted in 1872 and named for John A. Lindon, an agriculturalist and legislator from Illinois. The population of Lindon peaked at 479 in the 1920 census, but has declined since then. The town is currently home to just over 100 residents. Lindon’s history can be traced back to the 1860s when it was a small farming community near Cedar City. The area that now includes Lindon was first settled by Mormon settlers who arrived during the Great Salt Lake Valley Campaign of 1858-59. In 1872, while still located in Weber County, Lindon was part of what was known as the Second Townsite Settlement. This settlement had been organized by members of the First International Mormons Conference held at Nauvoo in April 1862. In 1898, when LDS Church President Wilford Woodruff designated Weber County as his "spiritual home," he chose Lindon as one of his four townships within Weber County's boundaries (the other three being West Jordan, Granger and Logan). At that time there were only sixty-six people residing in Lindon; however its growth continued unabated until World War II when the population plummeted to twenty-one due to wartime relocation (mainly due to military service) and lack of available housing. After 1945,Lindon slowly began to rebound with a current population of seventy-eight residents according to the 2000 census report.* Lindon experienced its heyday during World War II with an increase in civilian housing development attributable largely to veteran resettlement efforts begun by the city council and spearheaded by Mayor Harry Wirth.* During this time there were regular beer sales on Main Street (which continue today), fireworks displays on Fourth of July nights and local music performances throughout summer months.* * Although no longer having any resident businesses active on Main Street (* most have moved out or closed down over time), you will still find many souvenir items for sale along side locally made bread products from bakery owners across town
Lindon was founded in 1902, and has been a commercially active town since then. The population of Lindon was 9,000 in 1920 and 14,000 by 1960. Lindon is the seat of Summit County.
