The City Manager is Dale Huethert who has served since July 1st, 2014. Lindon’s economy revolves around agriculture which accounts for about 60% of its revenue. This includes crops like wheat, barley, cottonseed oilseed production, livestock ranching and hay production; as well as natural gas development on land adjacent to town limits that began in 2007 when ConocoPhillips drilled two wells totaling 3 million cubic feet per day.

By 1940, Lindon's population had decreased to approximately 100 people, but has since grown again with the arrival of new residents in the early 21st century. The first occupants of what would become Lindon were two Mormon pioneers, James Dolan and his wife Lucy Aiken Dolan. James Dolan had come from County Clare in Ireland and was a member of Brigham Young's original party that traveled across America in handcartes in 1847-48. After arriving at Salt Lake City on 14 October 1849 he purchased 640 acres of land east of present day Lundy Street from Solomon Waddell for $5 per acre (equal to $40 today). In 1875, John C.Lindon donated land to the community which became known as "Lindon." At that time there were only a few hundred people living within miles of downtown Salt Lake City. The growth of Lindon was due primarily to its location as a stopping point on stagecoaches travelling between Cedar City and Provo Canyon and its easy access to water supplies which allowed for large fruit orchards and cotton fields to be developed. In addition, many businesses were established within the town such as Aiken & Company store where groceries were sold; Girdler Hardware; Jenson’s Barbecue; Pfeffer’s Post Office; grain elevators nearby; general stores such as Sperry & Brothers hardware store; Bigham’s Bakery (now Red Lobster); Davidson Lumberyard; piano factory owned by Fenton Bros.; Stinson Funeral Home (later funeral home run by Ira Hanks) Today much of what once constituted Lindon has been destroyed or annexed by other communities within Southern Utah including Cedar City, Logan/Woodruff neighborhood now part of Cache Valley Regional Park, Ogden Village efforts underway to revive some remaining buildings along Locust Street southward into Downtown Ogden area while also expanding an existing parkland area northward including property formerly belonging to LDS Church Cemetery Downtown Lundy Street remains largely unchanged with several small businesses still operating out front including: Bluebird Café (closed 2011), Jenson’s Barbecue (closed 2009), Pfeffer’s Post Office (/ post office closed 2007), Davidson Lumberyard / Stinson Funeral Home (& later funeral home run by Ira Hanks) as well as notable landmarks like Blue Bird Café remain open today providing local flavor experiences unique unto themselves

After World War I, Lindon experienced rapid growth as a result of both its strategic location and its importance as an agricultural center. In the 1920s and 1930s, Lindon saw dramatic improvements in its infrastructure, including the construction of roads and bridges; development of schools; and expansion of commercial businesses. In recent decades, Lindon has undergone significant redevelopment program that has brought new life to its streets and homes, while preserving some key historical features.
