Today's Lindon is home to many businesses and organizations that are important to its residents and visitors alike. The first settlers in Lindon were families who arrived in 1847 from Missouri. The town was founded on December 26, 1852 by Wm Henson and others under the name "Pioneer City." The original plat for Lindon indicated that it would be an agricultural center with stores and barns used for trade with nearby towns such as Provo and Kearney. However, development never came to fruition due to lack of funding or interest from outside sources. In 1886, local businessmen John Atherton and Isaac Garnett purchased 135 acres (50 km2) west of town for $5 per acre ($25 per hectare). This land became known as Garnett Ranch because it had been owned by Brigham Young before he moved to Utah in 1847. In 1895, Garnett donated additional land east of town including a large creek which served as the town's water supply until 1905. Lindon experienced its first boom period during World War II when many American soldiers stationed in nearby Ogden were able to find work at local breweries or fabricate parts for aircraft production plants while they were away fighting overseas. Due to this influx of workers, Lindon grew rapidly becoming one of the most industrialized areas in Weber County during this time period. However, growth slowed after the war ended and currently there are only a handful of businesses operating within the limits of Lindon Village which encompasses most of downtown area today along with several dozen residential units built between 1945-1959 primarily around Third Street eastward which bisected what had once been landfill Lots 1-4 northeastward serving as housing for American troops during their stay intown following World War II On October 15th 1907 Mayor Jerald Woolridge placed an order through his office for fifty barrels (500 liters) oil per day from Midwestern Refining Company Limited situated adjacent on lot 4Z8W3 along Second Street just northwest corner lot 5Y8W3 thenceforth called "Hollywood" lots 9 & 10NW corner lot 11N8W1 hereinafter called "Lindonshire" lots 12 & 13E opposite intersection thereof being named: "Weber Heights." It should be noted that lots 7 southwesterly corner lot 8N9E1 hereinbefore unnamed Lots 3 southwesterly corner lot 2S1E1 east side thereof having same boundaries but different names hereinafter are said: "Heights", Lots 9 & 10 NW corner Lot 11N8W1 hereinabove mentioned; all these places aforesaid forming together constitute site now occupied by building erected therein . jerry woolridge vidette

The town takes its name from Brigham Young's brother-in-law John Wightman Lindon (1811-1872), who surveyed and organized what became Weber County in 1868. Lindon was also home to one of Utah's first banks and post office until it closed in 1904 due to financial difficulties brought on by World War I; however, Lindon still retains some well-preserved historical landmarks including a Methodist church built in 1892 that remains standing today and a Masonic lodge meetinghouse which was completed in 1907 according to plans submitted for approval by the LDS Church Board of Trustees that year. Today Lindon functions as a small farming community with limited commercial or retail activity outside of its own schools and churches; nevertheless, it remains an important cultural attraction due to its significant history within Mormonism itself as well as its position as one of only two remaining townships within Weber County that are still entirely composed entirely of Latter Day Saints (LDS) believers – the other being Springdale – making it both an important source of social support for local Mormons when times get tough and also an excellent place to learn more about Mormonism overall since many residents remain active members even after leaving formal religious affiliation altogether.
