In 1912, The Optical Shop moved to its current location on Main Street and continued to sell optics until it closed in 1978. At that time, the business was one of the largest in Lehi. Another early business owner was W.H. Hafer who operated a store called "The Gouget Store." From 1919-1930, Hafer sold corrective lenses and spectacles from his store on Great Basin Boulevard near Main Street. In 1933, Hafer opened an additional store on Temple Avenue adjacent to the LDS Church. This store became known as "The Bazaar" and continued to sell optical products until it closed in 1984. In 1935, Elmer Crouse started selling components for telescopes and other astronomical devices at his shop on Temple Avenue. In 1936-1945, Crouse built several telescopes at his shop which remain operational today including the Lehi Hale telescope which is still used for astronomy research today! Crouse also founded The Astronomical Society of Utah (ASU) in 1936 which continues to be a prominent organization inLehi today! In 1957, Don Armstrong opened The Camera Place & Optics located on Temple Avenue between Third and Fourth streets. There Armstrong sold various types of cameras including reflex Cameras and SLR Cameras as well as binoculars and microscope equipment from his storefront! Armstrong's business operated until 1985 when it was replaced by Roper Camera Stores Incorporated which continues to operate today! In 1984-1985 the old main building on Main Street passed away due to vandalism done by some teenagers who accidentally hitched a ride into town from Provo via car! Parked outside were several old camera equipment stores that had once been part of Armstrong's empire!
