Lehi, Utah is a city in Cache County, Utah, United States. The population was 3,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Cache County. Lehi was founded in 1847 by Danish immigrants who named their new town after their religious leader, Elijah Craig. The first Post Office opened in 1851. In 1896, Lehi became an incorporated municipality and has since grown to its present size. The area now known as Lehi was first inhabited by Native American tribes including the Paiute and Shoshone. The Cedar Mesa Formation which covers much of today'sCache Valley formed about 100 million years ago when the Earth's surface cooled from an equatorial temperature difference of . Although rare today due to weathering and erosion, evidence suggests that ancient Cedar Mesa rocks were used for building in early Mormon settlers of what would become Lehi. Mormon pioneers first arrived in what is now Cache Valley during the mid-19th century on handcarts and wagons drawn by horseback or mules. They began settling along river valleys and creek beds until they reached what is now Cache Valley around 1840-45 when they erected log cabins called "Gates" near modern day Brigham City while they awaited Federal land grants that would create east central Utah Territory. By 1850-60 many Latter Day Saints had established themselves as farmers north of Logan Square (now downtown) on high ground overlooking East Spring Creek where they built dams to control water flow for irrigation purposes then farmed until 1865 when Congress passed a bill allotting eastern Utah Territory with settled communities west of the Jordan River among other things including Lehi which included parts of Logan Square today’s downtown core). Demolition began immediately upon arrival but soon enough homes were being built upstream from where water current carried them away so it wasn't until 1870 that locks were constructed below East Spring Creek allowing steamboats access fording southward into Salt Lake Harbor Captain John Crouch supervised constructionof these locks becoming one more example demonstrating Anglo/Mormon cooperation during this period also see: Elisha Brownlow House still standing on corner Balthazar & First Streets Today this house once served as LDS Church Central Administration Building across from LDS Temple History Museum

Today, much of what once flourished within LeHI has been destroyed or replaced by newer development developments such as Centerville Shopping Center and Interstate 15 near Main Street which have taken over much of downtown area including much of the historic core of the city which remains largely unchanged since 1847 when it was founded by Joseph Smith Sr., his father figure and predecessor as president of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).
