There is little comprehensive gun history on the Layton, UT area. However, there are a few scattered references to firearms in the area dating back to at least the 1800s. One early reference to guns in Layton is from 1872 when a man named Alfred Bancroft traveled through the area and noted that there were “no proper arms or ammunition hereabouts”. The first gun battle between Indians and settlers in Layton took place on July 10, 1879. The battle began with sporadic gunfire before it came to a head when one Indian shot an individual settler named George Stephenson – who was then able to retreat into cover. The Indians eventually retreated after suffering heavy losses, leaving behind several pieces of artillery which became targets for local farmers and townsfolk looking for revenge. In 1902, John Crouch built a home on what is now South Highland Avenue in Layton which he called “Crouch’s Corner”. At this time, handguns were still relatively new technology and had not yet gained widespread popularity across the United States. On November 5th of that year, Crouch experienced his first handgun shooting match against another individual at his home which he won easily by scores of 3-1/2 points out of 6 rounds fired. This event marked the beginning of what would become known asLayton Gun Club events which would be held each month at Crouch’s Corner until 1966 when they moved to their current location on North Highland Avenue right next door to Regency Ballroom

Layington is a city in Utah, United States. The population was 24,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Green County. The first people to live in what is now Layton were the Utes. A group of Mormons emigrated from Illinois in 1847 and built a ranch near present-day Layton as an oasis for their new community. The town began to grow rapidly during the early 21st century due to its location on the Wasatch Front National Forest, which made it accessible for hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. Today, Layton is known for its downtown district that features severalHistoric buildings dating back to the late 19th century including The Masonic Temple and The First Methodist Church (founded 1871). Other attractions include three golf courses - One inside City Hall and two located outside of town - as well as numerous restaurants and bars across several blocks in downtown area. Layington's rich history can be found throughout several museums located within or adjacent to the city limits: Mormon Battalion Museum (opened in 1984), Green County Museum (opened in 2001), Assembling America Museum (opened in 2007), Utah State Historical Society museum (open since 1907), Utah Valley History Museum (open since 1975) and Anson Crouch House museum (opened in 1937).
On July 15, 1847, Brigham Young led a group of Mormon pioneers from the Salt Lake Valley in what is now Utah to the Promised Land. The Mormons were refused entry into Canada because of their religious beliefs, so they journeyed south across the American continent. Upon reaching Mexico City, they were turned away by French authorities because of their belief in automatic polygamy. After some negotiation and some brave walking, they finally achieved admission on September 6, 1849. In 1850 the Mormons built a fortified town called Rockville on top of an hill overlooking Salt Lake City. This was their main stronghold during their early years in Utah. In 1862 they abandoned Rockville and moved to Cedar City where they initially established a temple and began proselytizing for the LDS faith. They also built a new town called Northridge which became their major center of population after Cedar City was destroyed by fire in 1865.
