Colonel Sorenson set up his fort to protect himself and his family from Indian attack, and he erected several cannons along with various other defensive measures. Gun sights continued to be important at this point in Kaysville’s history; both soldiers and civilians needed them for accurate shooting practice! By 1886, things had begun to change in Kaysville; railroad construction had begun nearby and soon enough there were numerous businesses located within walking distance of each other (including one called “Guns Lake”). As these new developments took hold, so too did demand for better gun sights – companies such as Smith & Wesson started producing innovative models that allowed shooters to see their targets much more clearly than ever before! In 1893, Captain Smith passed away suddenly after many years Of service; his designs continue onto our modern day firearmsheon! Kaysville is a city in Utah, United States. The population was 15,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Kane County and part of the Salt Lake Valley metropolitan area. Kaysville was founded in 1847 byemption from Spanish Fork Township and named for General James H. Kays, who had commanded an American brigade during the Mexican-American War. The first post office in Kaysville was established on December 17, 1847, by Wm. Hickey with the name "Spanish Fork". The first settler in what is now Kaysville was Hiram Swayne and his family who arrived November 12th, 1849 from Illinois via wagon train covered wagonloads of goods including 154 rifles and ammunition to help build a new home for themselves near present day Temple Square. On February 5th 1850 David Whitmer erected a log cabin on lot No 7 (now corner of streets A and B). He occupied it until about 1861 when he sold it to Jonathan Gibbs which became the nucleus of what would become known as "Gibbs' Corner" where today's First Congregational Church stands. In 1863 James Hargrave built a small adobe house on lot No 10 (now corner of Streets A and B) which served as his headquarters while he served as Mayor of Provo City. In 1865 he married Olive Hilliard whom he had met while serving as Mayor that year; they lived there until their death in 1902 together. In 1870 John Treadwell bought Lots 8-10 from Gibbs for $640 cash plus $200 worth of goods necessary to make them habitable including two oxen drawn by four horses each used for plowing land along Main Street between lots 8 & 9 (now 125 East Market Street). They soon rechristened this section "Treadwell's Corner" after John Treadwell himself since all other localities were then called Spanish Fork or Provo City according to Mormon custom at that time before their incorporation into Kane County effective January 1st 1871 when Joseph Fenton became its first sheriff The town plat for Kaysville was filed on March 16th 1876 by Elijah Meeks with Lot 1 being north side of current street grid east side On October 3rd 1880 John Anderson so moved with many families to what would later become Salt Lake City after gold discoveries were made there
The first permanent settler in Kaysville, Utah was George W. Smith who arrived on July 6, 1847. He named the town after his father-in-law, David Kays. The population of Kaysville began to grow rapidly from its initial settlers in the early 1850s with new arrivals coming every year. By 1870, the town had a population of over 1,500 people and it continued to grow until 1880 when it reached 5,000 residents. In 1892, Brigham Young designated Kaysville as the capital of Utah and the town quickly became one of the most important cities in that state. It played an important role in development of both the Mormon church and Utah government throughout its history.
