They founded the community on December 1, 1850 with just six families gathered together on a small bluff overlooking the stream that flows through downtown today. On July 16, 1861, David Whitlock married Fanny Barnes which made him one of only three men to marry two women simultaneously in Utah Territory at that time In 1866 Brigham Young organized the LDS Church here in what would become Kaysville after traveling from Nauvoo, Illinois where he had been president since March 4th 1865; construction began on Kimball House soon afterwards followed by Joseph Fenton's store/mangery/banquet hall/kitchen building which became known as "Fenton's Palace". A post office was established at this location on November 24th 1870 under the name "KaysVILLE." By 1880 there were over 150 residents living here including many merchants such as Walthall & Sons grocery store clerks Dyer Bros., Pritchett & Ladd furniture stores Poindexter & Morrill hotel rooms etc.). At this time Main Street ran east to west instead of north to south like it does today due to some flooding that took place when Spring Creek overflowed its banks back then! In 1902 LDS missionaries invaded Canada via wagon train and convinced some farmers there to move their families across country - about 60 people did so becoming pioneers called Cedar City branch members first On January 15th 1907 President Smith offered those citizens who wanted to leave main street behind $500 each towards building costs for a new townsquare bounded by First Street North, Second Street South and State Route 238 East This offer was accepted and on February 2nd 1907 Main Street rejoins its current northsouth axis making it once again a one way street with local businesses lining either side! After much debate between residents about whether or not they wanted another center or if they should keep going downMainStreet everyone finally decided against it! Today you can still see evidence of this decision including several low lying areas that have never been graded or mown since then !!!!! Nowhere else inUtah does one find such evidence!!
