The following year, an 8-meter (26-foot) Meade telescope replaced the Schmidt Telescope at Holladen Observatory. In 1960, an 18-inch (45 centimeters) Celestron C8 reflector telescope was acquired from Pfeiffer Optical Co., Inc.(now part of SkyRCS). This telescope became operational at the observatory in 1963 and remains one of the most popular scopes owned by members of the society today. In 1984, a 5.5 meter (18 inch) Enfield Mk2C Dobsonian telescope replaced the Celestron C8 at Holladen Observatory. The Enfield Mk2C is still used today for observing astronomical objects near Earth including planets and stars beyond our solar system!
