After World War II many farmers moved into what had been Confederate territory in Utah after that state seceded from the United States; they started up new farms there because water resources were scarce elsewhere within Utah borders. By 1970 most of Highland's residents had left for various reasons: housing prices had become too expensive or too rare outside of downtown Salt Lake City; oil exploration had developed along its border with StGeorge; or jobs opportunities were available only within cities such as Provo or Loganburg outside of Salt Lake Valley limits). However some descendants remain today including six families who live on an 8 hectare piece of land adjacent to Clear Creek Reservoir just outside town limits where their ancestors once fished for fish on an annual basis using eel nets spread over four kilometers long!

The first block building in town was erected by John McConnell in 1925-26 as part of his effort to bring electricity to his new community. McConnell’s business became one of the most successful in town early on; it continued operations until 1974 when it merged with another local business to form McConnell & Son Incorporated (M&S). In 1915-16, The Presbyterian Church built what is now known as McCourtney Chapel; this chapel served as both a meeting place for residents and an educational center for young people during those years before school moved away from downtown into larger buildings nearby starting in 1922-23. Today, much like back then, Highlands inhabitants are proud members of their community and supportive members of local businesses alongside their fellow citizens. One example is M&S’s continuing legacy within Highlandtown: today’s M&S has been operating since 1975 providing excellent customer service while preserving its tradition of being family-owned and operated throughout its history!
In 1847, the Utah Territory was organized after a referendum by the United States Congress. The territory included much of present-day Utah and parts of Arizona, Nevada and Colorado. The first years were hard for the new settlers as they had to figure out how to survive in an unfamiliar land with no resources.
