Gun targets have been a part of the history of Highland, Utah since before the area was settled. The first target to be erected in this area was a large tree that stood in what is now known as South Park. This tree was donated by Salt Lake City businessman John W. Cooke and dedicated on December 6, 1878. It served as a public display for Enjoying the Lakes gunnery range which was located adjacent to present-day Highland High School. The first rifle shooting competition in Highland took place on November 7, 1892. This event featured teams from across Utah compete against each other in a series of three rounds with a total score at the end determining who won the competition. On October 17, 1899, Mr[?] H?lmes organized and held his first target shoot at South Park which became an annual event attended by many people from throughout Logan County including members of the local militia forces and their families. From then until 1919 there were no further competitions taking place within Logan County but instead they all happened at South Park where H?lmes would hold his shoots every year until his death on October 22nd 1919 leaving behind an impressive collection of target targets which still stand today within sight of everyone living within walking distance of South Park!

Highland, Utah is a small town in the Great Salt Lake Valley of southern Utah. The population was 7,521 at the 2010 census, making it the most populous municipality in Kane County. Highland has been a part of the United States since 1847 when it became part of what was then known as Squaw Creek Township. The name "Highland" is derived from Scottish Highlands and refers to a high mountain range that extends into neighboring Nevada and Arizona. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Highland were farmers who came overland from Scotland in 1824. They founded a farmstead on the site of present-day Highland in 1830 and named it after their homeland. The first post office was established in 1831, and by 1840 there were six stores and 30 residents living in what is now Highland. By 1860 there were only four homes left standing in the community and all but one had been abandoned due to timber depletion during the California Gold Rush. Although some people continued to live near Highland through the 1870s, most residents moved away during that decade because of gold fever which swept across America at that time. In 1877, however, graziers brought cattle westward over the Great Salt Lake for sale; this started an increase in ranching activity that would continue until about 1920 when agriculture took over as primary focus for many families who lived near SNP (now UT). In 1907 organizers organized an agricultural fair at which local produce such as eggs, butter, cheese and tomatoes sold for $1 per pound; this event helped start a farming industry that continues today with support from government programs likeorganic certification . One notable feature of early Highland history are three churches: First Presbyterian (1827), Methodist Episcopal (1859) and LDS Church (1914). These denominations met together frequently for services or held worship services outdoors on large tracts of land donated by prominent citizens such as judge J B Yeomans or John Sitton Sr.. At various points throughout its history Gaelic football has also been played among local children while other activities have included wagon rides around Stockton Summit or trips down Mount Carmel Road to Old Mormon Cemetery downtown; both activities provide opportunities for democratic engagement with adjacent communities outside of downtown where schools offer little beyond standardized testing results these days
In the late 1800s, the Highland area in Utah was a hotbed of mining and ranching. The mines were active until the early 1900s, and many of the buildings that remain from this time are still standing today. The ranching industry also played a big role in Highland's history; many prominent families owned large tracts of land here.
