Herriman, Utah is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,817 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The town began as a small farming community in 1869 on the site of present-day Herriman. The name "Herriman" comes from the nearby Herrick Range and was given to the community by George Herriman, a settler who purchased land near present-day Herriman in 1868. The first post office in Herriman was established in 1870, and it remained in operation until 1909. In 1893, local businessmen organized what became known as the "Utah White Brotherhood", which worked to promote white supremacy through education and agitation. The group also erected a large white house on Main Street that served as their headquarters until 1902. In 1907, Mormon settlers arrived in central Kane County and began to develop farms around what would become Herriman. By 1912 there were over 150 residents living in what is now Herriman; most of these early settlers came from Logan County, Utah. Over time, some of these original residents decided to move out of central Kane County and into more rural areas within Kane County or outside of it altogether; however, many continue to live here today including many descendants of those early pioneers. During World War II (1939-1945), much activity took place here due to military encampments located nearby such as Camp Butler which housed up to 12000 troops during development stages for Operation Crossroads (the invasion of Japan). After hostilities ended and all camps were dismantled following surrender negotiations on September 2nd 1945 local businesses quickly redeveloped with new housing developments taking hold throughout downtown while other businesses closed or relocated due to lack of business opportunities after war ended: this period is generally called "the postwar boom". An important event that occurred during this postwar boom was when LDS Church President Heber Jenson visited town on October 26th 1946 and announced plans for construction of Zion National Park approximately one mile south east along US Highway 89 (now I-15) from downtown: this event marked an important shift for local society towards developing tourism as an economic driver rather than simply Face Value Religion based upon spiritual experiences alone which had been prevalent hitherto

Herriman, Utah is a small town located in Unified County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The name “Herriman” first appeared on maps in 1847 as a result of Indian sightings near the site today. The first settler in Herriman was James Herriman who arrived in 1847 from Eastern Connecticut and settled on the east side of the Weber River. He built a log cabin and named it Herriman after his father-in-law, Hiram Beauregard Smith. George Atherton also lived in Herriman for some time before moving to Grantsville, Utah Territory in 1861. In 1865, Brigham Young appointed George Fenton as Territorial Governor of Utah Territory with jurisdiction over all of what is now unified county including present-day Herriman township and portions of eastern Grant County. As governor Fenton ordered that all white inhabitants must leave their Native American neighbors until they had been given an opportunity to become citizens or remove themselves by force if necessary. This order resulted in many Native Americans choosing emigration rather than remaining behind when white settlers arrived Jamestown Landing on the Great Lakes region seeking new land to settle westward. Fenton also ordered that buildings erected by settlers be torn down and buried underbrush so no evidence remained behind which could be used against them should they later decide to return home despite previous assurances from officials that they would not be harmed. In 1863 Brigham Young again issued an order calling for all residents of western Utah to removal within six months or face forcible expulsion; this order set off a long series of conflicts between Indigenous people and non-Indigenous settlers over lands claimed by both groups for various reasons including hunting rights, water access, resource claims etc., that continues to this day.
