Over the years, he has made significant contributions to the development of this small community and its gun-parts industry. In 1923, he donated an acreage northeast of his home to form the first Gun Parts Stores Inc., which continues today as one of the most important businesses in Herriman. Mr. Herriman was also instrumental in helping to grow the localgun trade and contribute substantially to local economic growth. Today, his family still resides in the town and continue their longstanding support for gun components and industry development. One of Mr. Herriman's earliest business ventures was into importing surplus firearms from Europe and elsewhere during World War I (1914-18). He later became president and CEO of The Arsenal Firearms Corp., one of Utah's largest manufacturers of handguns and rifle parts, until his retirement in 1984. In 2007-2008, the town built a new $10 million library and arena which opened in early 2009. The library is one of only two rural public libraries in Utah with air conditioning and wifi access for patrons. The town also has an excellent Japanese restaurant known as Momofuku Noodle Bar which opened in 2006/2007 on Main Street near the library; it offers a variety of menu items including Sushi Dishes as well as pastas, rice bowls & miso soup!
