Herriman is an unincorporated community in northwestern Utah, United States. It is located on the eastern edge of Davis County and contains the Herriman Light Station, which is a National Historic Landmark. The population was 2,868 at the 2010 census. The first white person to live in present-day Herriman was John Wesley Powell in 1869. A post office was established at Herriman in 1872, and remained open until 1907. A sawmill and gristmill were built here in 1903 and 1905 respectively. In 1907, a railroad station was built here and served as the town's primary function for many years. In 1984, the Davis County School District established a high school at Herriman which serves students from rural areas of Davis County who cannot attend schools within 5 miles of their homes. The community experienced some difficult times during the late 1990s with several businesses closing down due to economic conditions including lack of customer support from local officials or lack of interest by outside investors who had been displaced by new technologies or developed areas closer to major cities such as Salt Lake City or Denver Colorado Springs CO etc.; however since 2000 things have slowly but surely begun to improve with new businesses starting up and more people moving into the community; this has helped contribute to overall growth over time

There are few people left in Herriman, Utah who can remember the early days of its history. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, this small town was a vital transportation stop on the Mormon Trail. The town was also home to one of the first Latter-day Saint communities in America. The first permanent settler in what is now Herriman was James H. Hill, who arrived in 1847. He built a cabin near present-day Main Street and Richards Avenue. The next year, Hill married Rachel Ayer, who had come with her husband from Clay County, Missouri. They settled down in what is now Herriman and started a family. By 1870, there were about 20 residents living in Herriman. By 1880, that number had increased to 50+. At that time, many of these settlers were farmers or mechanics who used their land for agriculture or sheepraising. Some also started businesses such as a grocery store and blacksmith shop. In 1892, local resident John Wirth founded JWirt's Mercantile Store at present-day Market Square which became one of the most important stores in town during its early years. Wirth also opened up some private land to create additional acreage for farming and ranching operations around what is now Main Street and Richards Avenue. Herriman experienced its greatest growth period between 1912 and 1922 when it reached peak population size of 200 residents according to census records! However, by 1925 the population had plummeted to just 30 due to various factors including World War I bombings which caused extensive damage to buildings and townsfolk; other social problems associated with young adults moving away from rural areas following religious conversions; and dust storms that destroyed homes throughout Utah during 1926-1927 (see "The Dust Bowl"). After 1925, little change took place until 1950 when an agricultural development program called "The Great American Agriculture Experiment" began encouraging citizens to return onto their farms after five decades of being discouraged by government planners –resulting in over 350 new farm households coming into existence across much of Utah’s center
Herriman, Utah was founded in 1870 by John Herriman and his wife, Emma. The town was named for John's father, who had been a settler in the area. The first post office was established at Herriman in 1872. In 1916, the name of the town was changed to Sheremon after Harry S. Sheremon, a Congressman from Utah.
