Heber, Utah is a small town located in Wasatch County, Utah. It was founded in 1847 by Theophilus Heber and his wife Elizabeth. The town is named after Heber's father-in-law, Brigham Young. Heber became the first bishop of the LDS Church in 1860. He served as a missionary to England and Wales in 1865-66 and then to South Africa in 1868. In 1870, he was ordained an Elder of the LDS Church and served as one of its three counselors from 1871 until his death in 1888.

It was founded by George Heber on October 22, 1847. The first post office in Heber opened on March 10, 1848. The name of the town changed from heber to Heber City on July 25, 1948. On January 8, 1951, Heber became an incorporated city under state law. In 1967, it merged with Ogden to form the current city of Heber-Ogden. The history of Heber can be traced back to October 22nd 1847 when George HeBERFEDded a farmingstead and cabin called "Hemispherical" or "Hebrae." A year later he erected a log building which served as his home until 1860 when he moved into what is now known as the old store building and built himself a new house which still stands today (now used as an apartment). In 1862 Brigham Young visited Hemispherical and recommended that it be named after him because there were many people in that area who bore his name such as John Taylor and Orson Hyde (later apostle). So upon His return from his visit Hemispherical received the name Brigham Youngtown thus beginning our long association with this pioneer settler &Historian
