As more people came into Heber, businesses opened up and trade grew between Heber and Salt Lake City; by 1930 there were six stores, four churches and twelve schools in the small town of 1,796 people living within a radius of 10 miles (16 km). In 1932 control passed from LDS Church hands to non-LDS hands when they sold off portions of Whatcom County north of Provo; as part of this deal a new courthouse was built which became operational on December 6th 1934 A fire destroyed much property within what is now downtown core during 1984–1985; however no damage or Losses resulted because most insurance paid for reconstruction even though it had never been done before

However, it regained some importance following World War II when many Mormons relocated to Logan and other eastern cities because of ample job opportunities in Nazi Germany and Japan.
