Gun targets have been a part of Heber, Utah's history for many years. The first target took place in 1892 when the Heber Rifle and Pistol Club was formed. The club developed a custom-made rifle known as the Heber Target. This rifle was designed to shoot small holes in white paper targets that were placed at various distances from the shooter. The target shooting activity in Heber quickly grew and by 1912, the club had acquired its own gun range which was located on South Temple Street in downtown Heber. The range became very popular with local residents and Gun Owners of America (GOA) members alike because it allowed them to practice their guns without fear of hitting someone or something else. In 1933, the city of HeBERT voted to change its name to “Heber” after President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his address at BYU’s commencement ceremonies. In honor of President Roosevelt, HEBERT began hosting annual Independence Day events where citizens could come out and shoot rifles at various targets including cannons, horses and even a manor house! Today, GUN TARGETS is one of the most popular shooting venues in town with locals and visitors alike coming together for some great Shootin' fun!

After years of fighting, Young was able to gain control over most of Utah and appointed himself president of Deseret Kingdom under a new government that he had created. These events set the stage for gun ownership within Mormonism and its continued use throughout history.

This defeat marked an important milestone in European arms development as it demonstrated how effective firearms could be against warships. Firearms started appearing on battlefields in earnest during the 18th century with innovations like the American Revolution which saw rifles become more popular than pistols. A number of firearm massacres took place during this time including at Saratoga Springs in 1777 and at Fort Ticonderoga in 1781. In 1836, John Brown fatally shot six sheriff deputies while they slept at his home near Harper’s Ferry in West Virginia after subscribing to an abolitionist movement pamphlet

The town was established in 1867, and it became a city in 1907. The population of Heber peaked at 9,000 in 1920, but decreased to 5,500 by 1950. The city has since experienced a gradual decline, with its population peaking at 2,500 in 2000 and continuing to decline until 2010 when it had only 1,200 residents.
