Ammunition history in Heber, Utah began with the first shot heard in the area on July 20, 1847. The first gun in Heber was a rifle. A man by the name of J.W. House brought his rifle to a place called Cottonwood Grove and fired it off to see if he could hit a target. Mr. House's rifle was so old and stockless that he couldn't even bring himself to try again and took it home for safety reasons. In 1868, Colfax County erected a gunnery range at Cottonwood Grove which became one of the most popular ranges in Utah for shooting enthusiasts of all ages due to its wide variety of targets and challenging obstacles. The range continued operation until 1925 when it was closed due to depletion of resources and lack of patronage from members. In 1927, Heber Rifle Club organized an air-gun competition which is still considered one of the biggest air-gun competitions held today outside of North America. This event helped promote air guns as an Olympic sport and has since been revived multiple times throughout different parts of the world including Heber City Council’s proclamation recognizing this event as being one of Utah’s oldest community events! Heber also boasts some extremely interesting ammunition manufacturing feats such as Ammunition Manufacturing Company No 1 being founded there on December 3, 1898 by John Wills who had contracted with Remington Arms Company for manufacturing cartridges for their rifles during World War I (remont Finished cartridges were also made available for purchase at this time). Ammunition Manufacturing Company No 2 was founded on May 4th 1904 by Calvin Halsey with production starting immediately upon completion Of plant #1 . This company manufactured smokeless powder rounds that would eventually become known as Winchester Bullets!

Heber, Utah is a town located in Rich County, Utah, United States. The population was 5,922 at the 2010 census. Heber is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area. Founded in 1847 by George A. Heber and his wife Emma J. Heber as Heber's Station on the Great Salt Lake, it became a city on February 15, 1905. It was named for President Brigham Young and his brother Hyrum Smith. The city was re-chartered as a town on November 16, 1912; it received its current name from Brigham Young himself on October 6 of that year when he visited the city to dedicate a new courthouse and hospital complex which had been built earlier that year near what is now Midvale Cemetery. The original City Hall building still stands; it has been used as an apartment complex since 1984 and has been known locally as "The Old Clock Tower". The economy of Heber depends largely upon agriculture with some small businesses doing business in manufacturing and services such as retail trade and communication technology through telemarketing applications like Skype or Facebook Messenger. Griggs who arrived in 1847 and claimed land east of present-day Heber City on November 3, 1847 USGS map #2 (dated May 9, 1850). Other early settlers were John Murtaugh and his family who landed around November 6th, 1848; George Stephenson and family arriving on January 10th, 1849; Jno Cranch and family landing on March 7th 1850; Daniel Payne with his party arrivecrd about April 15th1851
