Farmington, Utah is a small town in Weber County, Utah, United States. The population was 697 at the 2010 census. Farmington was founded in 1847 by Mormon pioneers. It became an incorporated city in 1907. Farmington is located on the eastern edge of Weber County and is bordered to the south by Cedar City and to the west by Mill Valley. The first non-Native American inhabitants of what is now Farmington were two groups of Hidatsa refugees who had fled from Minnesota during the Cheyenne and Arapaho War (1865-68). They arrived around 1847 with their families and began gardening maize, beans, squash, potatoes and other vegetables near what is now School Road. Over time they built a stockade around their crops to protect them from raiders and also built a mill for grinding corn for export back home. In 1907, when Cedar City became an incorporated city, Farmington became its second largest city after Provo. Today it has a population of just over 7300 residents. Farmington was founded in 1847 by Mormon pioneers as part of the Salt Lake Valley settlement which later expand into Cache Valley where they erected homes made out of adobe bricks thatched with straw or cotton reeds. On March 4th.,1849 Brigham Young announced plans for Fort Leavenworth on land donated by John Whitestakes; this event helped spur continued exploration of The Great Basin area led by Mormons looking for new opportunities for empire building within America's expanding West beyond simply ranching settlements such as Independence Rock near Las Vegas Nevada Territory; these explorations would culminate in what we know today as Utah Territory becoming UTA on November 1st., 1896 thanks largely to efforts spearheaded by President James Kapp who also served as Territorial Governor between US Congress’s creation thru December 12th., 1898 until his death December 15th., 1899 at age 70 years old while still serving concurrently as Mayor of Salt Lake City
Farmington was founded in 1847 by James W. Farmington, a wagon driver and surveyor. The town was named for Farmington Creek, which flows through the town. The first post office in Farmington opened in 1848. The first store was built in 1851. In 1865, the first irrigation system was installed in Farmington. The discovery of oil at Black Mesa led to the development of the local economy around this time and made Farmington one of the most important oil towns in the United States during World War I. The war also generated many new jobs and homes for residents of FarmINGTON, as well as other towns near Black Mesa. The population of FarmINGTON peaked at over 10,000 people during World War II, but declined after that point due tolimited resources and competition from nearby cities such as Salt Lake City and Denver. However, since then there has been an increase in population growth within the limits of FarmINGTON itself, with current populations ranging from about 20-30 people per square mile (8-12 people per square kilometer). Today, much of what once characterized as Farmington's commercial district is now home to small businesses or apartment complexes catering to low-income residents who rely on agricultural production for their incomechecks; however, many farm buildings remain standing downtown providing evidence of how important farming remained throughout history despite advances in technology
