In 1959, Mormon apostle Spencer Wightman visited Salt Lake City with some fellow Mormons (among them Jerald Maxwell) to proselytize for polygamy throughout Utah before departing on an LDS mission westward into Arizona Territory; they later founded Salt Lake City's First Quorum of Seventy here at Cottonwood Heights where they resided until their deaths en route back home two years later (the temple that they helped build remains standing today).
