Eagle Mountain is located in the Jackson County of Utah, and it has been a community since 1868. The town was founded by Mormon pioneers who left Nauvoo, Illinois, for the Latter-day Saint settlement in Utah. Eagle Mountain was named after an eagle that had nested on the nearby Mount Carmel. Eagle Mountain became a census-designated place (CDP) in 1984 and it has since been one of the most reliably populated areas in Jackson County. The population of Eagle Mountain totaled 8,965 at the 2000 census. In 1906, they again won both of their events but lost in the final round of eliminations to the Colt Firearms Company Gun Club Incorporation of America (CFGCA). In 1911, they again won both their events but lost in the final round of eliminations to the Browning Arms Company Gun Club Incorporation (BACGA). They continued competing through World War I until 1919 when they stopped altogether due to lack of funds. However, they continue to be a part of Eagle Mountain Rifle and Pistol Club through its post-war years until it disbanded in 1974.

Eagle Mountain is a small mountain located in the Uinta Mountains of Utah. It was first mentioned in records in 1853, and was officially named Eagle Mountain by the US Geological Survey in 1906. The name comes from the local eagle population that regularly frequents the mountain. The peak has been an important location for military activity since it was first sighted by Europeans. In 1860, during the American Civil War, Union General John A. Fremont made his way up to Eagle Mountain and observed Confederate General Robert E. Lee's army encampment below. In 1863, while Lieutenant Colonel James Wadsworth led Company G of the 7th Cavalry Regiment against Mormon dissidents at Cedar Mesa, they came across a group of Native Americans on top of Eagle Mountain and called it "Mormon Peak." The peak was also used as a winter quarters for Union soldiers during the Mexican-American War in 1847-1848. In 1890, when United States president Grover Cleveland declared all land east of 106 degrees West to be part of Utah Territory, he gave Daniel Cropsey title to 1/4 mile (1 km) east of where Eagle Mountain now stands as part of what is now known asadditional mining claim #215819 (now known as Zion National Park). This gift helped start what would become one of Utah's most significant ranching areas and attracted settlers from all over America to these mountainside valleys. Today, many people visit Eagle Mtn., including weekenders and skiers who can enjoy its slopes for skiing or snowboarding; hikers who hike or climb its routes; birdwatchers who watch elk grazing on the peaks’ high plains; and educators who use Eagles Nest field office headquarters for field trips to various sites around Zion National Park
