Prior to this event, it was thought that only men could be teachers at BYU-Hawaii because women were not admitted until 1893 when Leland Stanford erected a “ Women’s College” here. In 1915, Mormon pioneers arrived from Ogden and began building what would become The University of Utah campus on some high ground just east of town center. Today, Eagle Mountain has a population of over 8,000 people who enjoy its many attractions such as skiing (both winter and summer), fishing (both fresh and salt water), hiking/biking/horseback riding, golfing/skiing/snowboarding, and playing cricket or football on their beautiful open fields which are now part of downtown Eagle Valley Shopping Center
