Cottonwood Heights is located in Anschutz County, north of Logan and east of Provo. It began as a farming community on the eastern edge of what is now Logan Valley before expanding into present day Cottonwood Heights when its residents bought land in 1872. Cottonwood Heights had two schools until 1910 when it closed due to financial difficulties and moved to Glenview which became its school district's first campus. One highlight of this history is the fact that Cottonwood Heights' first school, known as "The School House" opened on October 12th, 1872. This school served students from rural Anschutz County until 1880 when it relocated to Glenview for budgetary reasons. The Village Board voted on March 9th, 1910 to annexe neighboring Cedar City so that both communities would have one governing body and share resources such as library and fire services. This annexation event marked the beginning of modern day Cottonwood Heights with its current form which we know today thanks to deeds filed with the Clerk of Courts during 2018 Tax Season
