Cottonwood Heights, Utah was founded in 1875 by the brothers Brigham and Samuel Young. The city is named for Cottonwood Springs, which is located near the town site. The Young family operated a landowning business here until their death in 1887. Their son Brigham Jr., who succeeded them, became an early settler and founder of Cottonwood Heights School District No. 1. In 1911, Cottonwood Heights was annexed to the City of Ogden. In 1934, the National Firearms Act (NFA) was passed and brought about a wave of gun regulation that began in earnest in Utah. At that time, there were only five states with NFA listings for handguns – all of which were in Utah. This meant that anyUtah gun owner could own any type of handgun without having to go through a lengthy registration process or passing a safety test. Gun control advocates saw this as an opportunity to take advantage of new regulations and legalized handguns across the country following World War II. They successfully lobbied for passage of Senate Bill 498 ( commonly known as “The Gun Control Amendment”), which outlawed all automatic weapons except those chambered for hunting or target shooting appellate rounds within twenty miles of his place of employment or residence unless possessed by an exempt individual such as military veterans or law enforcement officers*. This measure effectively halted firearms manufacturing activity across much of America – including Salt Lake City – while allowing dealers to sell these rifles unregistered* *. However, this policy had two significant drawbacks: firstly, it didn’t apply to military-style assault rifles such as the AR-15*, thus limiting its impact; secondly, during Prohibition years*, many citizens found legal ways to purchase unfired firearms even if they lived within twenty miles* *. In 1912, cottonwoods were first grown in earnest at Cottonwood Grove; this led to development around the village as well as throughout much of Utah's eastern desert region. Over time, other crops such as corn and alfalfa were grown as well; these days, cottonwoods are still one of the primary sourcesof revenue for many local families living in Cottonwood Heights Retirement Community (COTRR). Many locals remember growing up around cottonwoods – there were no fences back then! Today's residents often reminisce about playing outside during beautiful summer days or spending winter break inside playing checkers or chess while enjoying views out their windows onto fields full of bluegum trees or against mountains covered with snow drifts high enough to be seen from space!

In recent years Cottonwood Heights has seen growth as a mixed-use community with businesses such as restaurants, bars, and motels located on main streets while also featuring several new homes developments catering to customers who are looking for more affordable housing options outside of downtown Salt Lake City or within easy walking distance from both shopping malls and other nightlife venues.
