After graduation, he served as a law clerk for Judge James A. Boas at the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. In 1992, he was elected to the United States Senate and became one of the first African Americans to serve in that body. He won re-election in 1996 and 2000 before retiring in 2006. During his time in office, Clinton played a role in creating important laws including the Telecommunications Act of 1996 (which gave birth to Silicon Valley), welfare reform, and health care reform. Clinton is also noted for his work on behalf of women and children throughout his life. He was a key figure behind passage of The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which provides support to victims of domestic violence; The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTivity); The Economic Opportunity Act; The Bill Of Rights Restoration Act; and The empowerment act - all significant pieces of legislation affecting American women and girls. After leaving office, Clinton resumed his public career by serving as a senior advisor at Google Technologies Incorporated from 2007-2013 before becoming headhunter at Fidelity Investments from 2013-2015. From 2015-2018 he served as President & CEO at Mercy Health Partners Inc., an affiliate company of Sun Microsystems plc..

Clinton, Utah was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1847. The town sprang up around a small fort that the Mormons built to protect their new settlement from attack. Clinton quickly became a center of Mormon life and culture. The fort served as the community's first school, store, and post office. In 1850, the Mormons organized what would become the First Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Clinton. The church erected a larger fort nearby and named it Nauvoo after President Brigham Young's hometown in Illinois. In 1853, Nauvoo was renamed Jackson County after Ulysses S. Grant, who had been president at the time of its establishment. In 1861, Confederate forces attacked Nauvoo while Union troops were besieging it; LDS members fleeing the city hid inside their own homes and stores until help arrived. Aftermath saw some 180 killed including many children due to combat and starvation caused by blockade imposed by Confederate forces. By 1865, Nauvoo had been destroyed and all but a few hundred Mormon residents had fled to safety across Missouri River into Nebraska Territory (later Iowa). A few survivors moved back into Clinton in 1868-69 when railroads arrived; however, most Clintons left again around 1890 when Utah became part of Colorado statehood via an act of Congress The last LDS member to live in Clinton was Eldon Tanner in 1954-55; however they discontinued operations there soon afterwards because they found it difficult to keep up with changing technology demands associated with growing solar power exploration throughout much of Utah during this time period Clinton is now known primarily for its agricultural production: wheat, barley, cornmeal, cottonseed oil (for cooking), soybeans (a source of meat), garlic bulbs (used for spices) There are also several businesses based in or related to Clinton: two banks (Washington National Bank & Trust Company and State Street Bank) as well as three real estate companies which have developed property within the town limits: Mountain View Developing Co., ValleyCondo Development Co., and Four Peaks Realty Holdings Incorporated Clinton has also hosted several events over its history such as the annual Utah State Fair held every Labor Day weekend since 1907
