The value of land within Salt Lake City limits had grown rapidly since alcohol prohibition began in 1919 so Brigham Young University purchased an additional piece of property east of downtown to house their new campus; this became known as Heber Valley Ranch which housed BU's football stadium until 1985 when they moved to Death Valley Regional Medical Center adjacent to Interstate 80 until that institution closed in 2003 and all buildings were demolished including Heber Valley Ranch which still remains unoccupied today as part of Bear River Open Space Preserve) DowntownSaltLakeCity continued growing rapidly with several thousand new residents coming through downtown annexation efforts starting before 1900 without any public referendum or vote being taken regarding whether or not these residents would become citizens of SaltLakeCity just because they lived close enough for annexation although it generally requires two-thirds majority via certified voter petition having been filed prior to July 1st annually regardless if certain businesses have relocated within city boundaries) In 1906 there were also plans for a branch library south of Main Street but no action was ever taken due to high population levels already present within South Downtown Salt lakecity . However another proposal surfaced in 1909 involving building a one block wide boulevard down West Temple Street from Second Avenue northeastward extending into current day Kearney Square across Central Park between First Avenue NE & Third Avenue NE then turning southwest onto Temple Place NW finally terminating at Wells Road SE
