The design of an AR-15 has been tweaked over time to provide users with a reliable, efficient weapon that can be used in many different circumstances. Clearfield is a small town in Utah that was founded in 1846. The town is located on the Clearfield River, about 25 miles north of Ogden. Clearfield was named for the clear sky which it was said to resemble. The first settler in Clearfield was James Murchison, who bought land from the Ute people in 1847. In 1850, settlers arrived from Ohio and Kentucky and began to take up land near Clearfield. By 1860, there were over 100 residents living in Clearfield. A post office was established in ClearFIELD on February 8, 1864, and remained open until 1951. In 1862, President Abraham Lincoln issued an executive order ordering all Mormons removed from the United States. This order caused a great deal of conflict between Mormons and non-Mormons in Clearfield. On December 12th of that year, Mormon leader Brigham Young announced his decision to migrate eastward to Winter Quarters (now Waco). Approximately 60% of the population of Clearfield followed Young into winter quarters; however, most of the remainder stayed behind to continue their settlement efforts. As a result of this fighting and expulsion, many earlyClearfield buildings were destroyed or damaged during the Civil War years including: a mill along the river; jail; schoolhouse; storehouses; courthouse; stockade; and doctor’s office. In 1865–66 clearfields skirmishes took place when local farmers attempted to market goods they had raised on their lands west of Salt Lake City while still subject to US jurisdiction according to lawlessness rampant throughout those territories at that time due largely to Indian Wars fought by both sides as part of overall effort against LDS expansionism into other areas including Oregon (northwest), Nevada (northwest), Arizona (southwest), California (southwest) and New Mexico Territory
Clearfield is a city in Wasatch County, Utah, United States. The population was 9,938 at the 2010 census. Clearfield began as a small pioneer settlement in 1847 and grew rapidly due to its location on the south side of the Salt Lake Valley and its connections to Brigham Young's new Mormon colony in Nauvoo. The city was named for Reverend John A. Clearfield, an early settler who helped build up Clearfield Township and contribute to the growth of Clearfield. The first post office in Clearfield was established in 1851, and it continued operation until it was discontinued in 1907. By 1860, Clearfield had become one of the largest cities in Utah with a population of over 20,000 people. It soon became one of the leading manufacturing centers in Wasatch County as well as across Utah due to its many factories that produced goods such as flour, cottonseed oil, cigars, saddles and carpeting. In 1893, Clearfield married into one of Utah's most prominent families when their son Franklin DixieClearfeld married Sarah Milton Maxwell (1860-1948), daughter of businessman George Maxwell (1820-1909). This marriage signified not only clearFIELD's increasing importance within Utah but also its close relationship with Nauvoo which continued until 1840 when Joseph Smith revealed his plan to move all Mormons from Illinois to Missouri under threat of violence if they did not comply. In 1910s-1920s Clearfields economy grew rapidly due to jobs created by World War I as well as later production from local breweries such as New Holland Brewery and Deseret Brewing Company which were based in nearby Provo
