Clearfield is a city in Clearfield County, Utah, United States. The population was 3,591 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ogden–Clearfield metropolitan area. Clearfield has been named a "City of Progress" by Inc. magazine and was one of America's fastest-growing towns in 2008. Clearfield is located on the banks of the Green River adjacent to Cache Valley National Park and five miles (8 km) from Brigham Young University. The first permanent settler in Clearfield was James Ewing who arrived in 1847. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and named it after his home state, New York. A post office called Clearfield was established in 1851, and remained open until 1907 when it was merged into Ogden City. A sawmill called Fenton Mill opened in 1870 and continued operation until 1907; it furnished lumber for many local buildings including the LDS Church's Salt Lake Temple which were completed between 1877 and 1888. In 1886, John Waddell founded Waddell Lumber Company with his brother Brigham Waddell to provide timber for local mills as well as build homes for settlers throughout Utah Territory. By 1890, Clearfield had about 1,500 residents and had constructed several blocks of buildings downtown including a Methodist church (1892), High School (1893), Post Office (1894), Public Library (1902), Masonic Lodge No 2 (1906) and an Eastern Star Lodge #2A(1907). During World War I there were shortages of munitions due to World War I Europe while production elsewhere went uninterrupted; this caused prices for goods exported from Utah to drop by 50%. The American Monetary Board determined that there should be no war debt payments made on exports because if they did so would cause prices to rise again which would impair export earnings while creating inflation which could not be controlled without war debts being paid then money would start circulating like credit card bills with interest rates over 20%. This board recommended that all assets earned during peacetime should be put towards paying off wartime obligations instead of being used to finance other social programs such as housing or infrastructure projects let alone pay back original loans plus interest utes totaling $128 million dollars! To date this recommendation remains unheard but can likely still be done through cooperative efforts among government organizations such as the US Treasury Dept., USCOE/FEMA etcetera

The first cartridge to be designed specifically for the muzzleloader was the .223 Winchester. The rifle that first used this caliber in hunting was the Model 1871, which was developed by George Armstrong Custer and manufactured by Curtis & Co. The cartridges that were developed for this caliber include the 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm Remington Magnum, and 5.56mm NATO.
Clearfield, Utah is a city located in Cache Valley, UT, within the Clearfield County seat of Logan. The population was 10,872 at the 2010 census. The community was named for David Clearfield, a pioneer settler and mayor of Logan in 1847-48. The first Mormon pioneers to reach Clearfield were led by Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball in 1847-48. They established a small town on the site of present-day Clearfield about 2 miles east of Logan on Uinta Road. In 1850, President Joseph Smith authorized Brigham Young to organize a settlement west of Cedar City called Nauvoo. The original settlers at Nauvoo included David Clearfield and his family. Early Mormons built homes near the present-day park that now forms part of downtown Clearfield. In 1857, LDS leaders decided to move their main headquarters from Nauvoo to Salt Lake City so they could better serve the growing Mormon community there. A group of men and boys set out from Nauvoo on horseback on July 24,1857 in search of new land to settle. On October 12 they arrived at what is now Provo (Salt Lake City). That same year Zion National Park was created when federal troops burned down the Capitol building in Washington D.'C.—an event chronicled in history books as "The Day Of Destruction." David Clearfield served as mayor of Logan from 1847–48 and again from 1850–51; he also represented Cache Valley in Congress twice during this time period (1859-61).[1] After serving two terms as Mayor of Logan, he returned home to start a farm near where he had previously lived with his parents and siblings until 1840 when they moved to Cache Valley.[2] DavidClearfield died February 7th 1863 at age 80 years after an epic journey covering over 875 miles[3]:p4 His remains are buried at Maplewood Cemetery (Cache Valley) next to those of his father John Laughlin and mother Sarah Ann Whitney who also died young while living in Cache Valley
Clearfield was founded in 1869 by Brigham Young and his young wife Emma. The town was named for the Clearfield River, which flows through the town. Clearfield rapidly grew as a cotton-growing center, and it became an important railroad junction. In 1902, Clearfield became an incorporated city.
