On July 11, 1862, General George A. McClellan's army passed through Centerville on their way northward during their march across Utah Lake. The following year, 1863, Centerville experienced another boom when gold was discovered near what is now Blanding City in Nevada County.. This new development led to increased traffic along the wagon trail and also produced more jobs for locals who started working in mining operations or as cowboys accompanying travelers on their long journey westward. In 1865, when President Abraham Lincoln visited Salt Lake City he made stops at various locations including Centerville before traveling eastward towards Winter Park in Central Florida. While in Centerville he inspected some newly built structures such as a Masonic Temple which still stands today overlooking Main Street. By 1886 there were only around 100 residents remaining within centerville but things had changed significantly since that time with advancements such as railroad construction that allowed for greater growth throughout the community including annexation of other nearby townships including North Millcreek (1921), West Jordan (1928), Clearfield (1929) and even Sandy Mountain (1968). Over time many businesses have closed down due to competition from larger cities or changes within society itself but some remain active such as First National Bank which has been open continuously since 1907; Mercantile Exchange which thrived during prohibition; State Fairgrounds which hosted events such as rodeos & jugglers; The Old Depot Museum which houses artifacts from earlyCenterville life;and finally Holyoke Elementary School located just outside town limits where students are currently learning about United States History through interactive exhibits like ' Pioneer Days' each month!
