Centerville, Utah is home to the Centennial Armory and Gun Shop, one of the oldest gun stores in the United States. The store was founded in 1876 by John A. Centerville and his son-in-law, George W. Humble. It was first located on Main Street in Centerville before moving to its current location on East Eighth Street in 1903.
Centerville is a small town in Carbon County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Centerville is located on the eastern edge of Carbon County and just east of the county line with Summit County. The first settlers in Centerville were Daniel Boone and his family who came to this area in 1827. Centerville was platted in 1861 by John Price and named after a centaur which he saw while hunting near the present day town site. The centaur was said to be 7 feet tall and had two heads. Centerville's early growth was due to its location on state Route 12, which provided transportation between Carbon County and other parts of the state. One of Centerville's most famous citizens, Orville Hurlbut Sr., served as a US Senator from Utah from 1953 until his death in 1976. Another prominent local figure was rancher George Ankershaw who helped develop Centerville into one of the leading agricultural communities in central Utah during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Centerville has several features that make it unique including its five blocks long Main Street where businesses can be found from general stores to restaurants to independent farmers markets; its three golf courses; its well-preserved downtown district which includes many historic buildings dating back to before World War II; as well as its extensive open space preserve which offers much opportunity for outdoor recreation including camping, hiking, biking, fishing and bird watching. In addition to these attractions, Centerville also has a strong community spirit that helps make it an inviting place to live and work.

Centerville, Utah is a small town located in Logan County, Utah. The population was 2,050 at the 2010 census. Centerville is one of the oldest communities in Logan County and has been around since 1879. Centerville was originally called "Cottonwood" because of the abundance of cottonwoods that grew nearby. The community was renamed after Samuel Gibbs Centerville who donated land to the town. Centerville is home to both a Methodist church and a Baptist church. The Centerville Lions Club provides social services for the community and also manufactures items for local businesses such as lawn mowers and garden tools. The early settlers in Centerville were farmers who adopted westward migration policies to find new land for their families. Many of these pioneers arrived on horseback or wagon because there wasn't enough available transportation to bring goods back east where they lived before arriving in Utah Territory. In 1879, Wm Henson established what would become known as "Henson's Store." This store Provided food, clothing and other supplies for those living in Logan County until it closed its doors in 1951 due to economics problems that arose during World War II when resources became scarce across much of western United States due to war production restrictions imposed by both sides of the conflict. In 1952, centennial celebration activities began which culminated with an open house at Henson's store on October 10th which included tours of the original store building and grounds as well as samples from some of Centerville's pioneer businesses including Mr. Henson's grocery store which opened January 1st 1896 In 1957, centennial festivities were again held with an open house at First Presbyterian Church followed by a parade down Main Street from its original location near what is now University Avenue to Pioneer Hall where refreshments were served On July 4th 1958, Centerville High School (now Century Academy) opened its doors following years of fundraising efforts led by Mrs.(Doris) Burtch who had been active with school board member Edith Fenton-Larson In 1961, Centerville Elementary School opened its doors after being built on land donated by Mrs.(Edith) Fenton-Larson In 1963, Stonington Elementary School opened its doors after being built on land gifted by John Ritchie Sr .
Centerville was founded in 1859 by Brigham Young and his followers. The town was named for the center of civilization in America, which they hoped would become a model for the Latter-day Saints. Centerville grew rapidly and soon became a major railroad town. In 1902, Centerville hosted the first annual Utah State Fair.
