By 1907, Centerville had become an important economic center in Utah, and its merchants developed successful businesses in grain, cattle, woolen cloths, sugarcane and other crops. In 1915 Centerville became the capital of Utah after Salt Lake City was abandoned for political reasons. As the capital city grew more complex and diverse than any other town in Utah, Centerville experienced rapid growth both within its own borders and across the state. In 1950 Centerville became a city when it annexed part of Spanish Fork City. Centerville is located at 38°27'28" N 112°02'30" W (38.8796N 111.24667W).
