In 1847 Theodorities Wilkinson and George Smith founded Cedar City after they won an arbitration case against Brigham Young's new church organization called Deseret News Company LLC over land purchases near what would eventually become Logan Airport. With growth come challenges for space availability along with public opposition to minority religion because many settlers saw Mormons as Parasites on Native American land.[8][9] Despite this public opposition into early decades CBD played an important role serving as storehouse for goods brought by wagon trains from Stugantonsville eastward through central Wyoming Territory before reaching eastern Oregon during winter months 1880-81 following gold discoveries at Cache Valley; goods ranged from materials used in construction to clothing needed for soldiers returned from California campaigns fought between LDS Church Militant forces led by Brigham Young under direction of his brother John Dickey – who styled himself "Governor"[10] In 1892 CBD became known as "The Birthplace" when local girl Emmeline Bicknell donated her birth certificate to be placed side by side with those held at West Point Military Academy Class Of 1888 which also includes President Grover Cleveland

Cedar City is a city on the Utah-Arizona border, located in Cedar County. As of the 2010 census, its population was 26,723. The Cedar City Migrant Camp was founded in 1847 by Mormon pioneers as a temporary resting place for travelers during their journey from Nauvoo to California. It served as a stop on the route until 1854 when it moved to what is now known as downtown Cedar City. The first post office in Cedar City opened in 1855. In 1868, Cedar City became the county seat of Cedar County and remained so until 1959. Prior to that time, it was part of Kane County. The area that is now CedarCity was first populated by Native Americans who hunted and gathered plants for food and clothing. These people were the Utes and Pueblos. The area around where present day CedarCity stands was first occupied by the Arikara Indians before being explored by Spanish settlers in 1540 AD called "Isleta de la Cruz" or Isleta del Rey (Island of the Crown). This group of Spaniards discovered an area rich in minerals including coal, gold and silver which led them to name this new land Providencia (Providence) because they thought it would be an ideal place to establish a trading post because of its natural resources. After exploring this new land for several months they decided against establishing such a post because there wasn't enough space for one and returned home without making any further discoveries about this new land. In 1846 Brigham Youngberry migrated from Nauvoo, Illinois with his family to Utah Territory where he met John Custer at Fort Bridger on November 14th, 1846 while looking for horses needed for his army serving God's Kingdom westward across the American plain under General Kit Carson's commandless march into Indian Territory seeking revenge against Chief Black Hawk's raid on wagon trains near Bentonville Arkansas two years earlier On January 7th following John Custer's death at Little Bighorn Battlefield along withCheyenne River Sioux cavalry leader Major Naisheen Arapaho these events helped start what would become known as The Great Mormon Migration
