Gun targets have been a part of American Fork, Utah's history for many years. The first target shooting place in the community was a quarry on the south side of town. There were three targets that could be hit from anywhere in the quarry, so people would go to try and score some goals. The first real gun range in American Fork was set up by J.B. Nichols back in 1892. It was one of the earliest ranges in America and functioned as a training ground for militia units during the late 1800s and early 1900s. After J.B.'s death, his son, George B., took over running the range until it closed down in 1925. In 1934, Republic Firearms Corporation opened up shop on 5 acres adjacent to Central High School in American Fork which became home to America's first "multi-purpose outdoor rifle range." ThisRange served as an important training ground for military personnel during World War II and afterwards; it also hosted air force precision bombing missions over Japan from 1945-1946 using Boeing B-29 Superfortresses! After World War II ended, many Americans decided they didn't want their local Rifle Ranges open anymore because they were no longer needed by military or law enforcement entities due to advances in technology and warfare at that point (the days of muzzleloading firearms being more dangerous than those using modern cartridges). In fact, only two Republic Firearms Corporation ranges remain open today - one located inside American Fork Municipal Building on State Street within easy driving distance of most Americans living within 160 miles radius of Salt Lake City (including American Fork), while another remains operational at Lone Pine Shooting Park just outside Ofglen, Utah off Interstate 15 east of Provo (a suburb located about 25 minutes north of downtown Salt Lake City). NRA keeps both facilities open year round with multiple events held each season including Trap & Gun Openings (May 2nd thru October 1st), Airgun Masters Championship Day(September 4th thru October 10th) and Shotgun Championships (April 6th thru November 4th). These days these ranges are used primarily by Century Arms Ammunition salesman who show customers how various models/firearms work before providing ammunition to shoot at various distances with different calibers/patterns etc...

American Fork was founded in 1847 and named for General John C. Fremont. The American Fork Formation is a geologic formation in Utah that dates back to the Late Jurassic period. The formation contains fossils of Dinosauria and other dinosaurs as well as some Mesozoic era plants and animals. The townsite of American Fork was settled by Mormons on November 12, 1847, during the first year of Brigham Young's presidency as president of the LDS Church (now called "The Church"). Mormon pioneers built a log cabin there on what is now First Street. The name "American Fork" was given to it because General John C."Fremont" had camped near present-day American Fork while traveling through Wasatch County in December 1846 looking for new land to claim for his people after they'd lost all their land in California Ranch War (1846–48). In 1850, when Mormon pioneers from Stansbury Township arrived in Cedar City following wagon train travel from Nauvoo, Illinois via Independence Missouri Territory and Salt Lake Valley, they too began settling down around Cedar City proper; contemporary Cedar City residents are descendants of these early settlers who came through Ammon Mound Pass on their way northward from Nauvoo

American Fork is a Pocatello, Idaho town that straddles the Snake River. The community was founded in 1868 by George Washington Folsom, who had to leave his home in Payson, Utah because of persecution from Mormon missionaries. American Fork was named after the forks of the Snake River, which make up its namesake's family homebuilt on a bluff overlooking the river. The first permanent settler in American Fork was G W Folsom, who arrived in 1868. He and his wife lived on North Las Vegas Street for twenty years before moving to what is now the eastern side of town. Some of America's earliest businesses were established here: Arapaho Land & Loan company, started by Folsom himself; Jenson Hwy Shoe Store; Ford store & post office; Saloon at Topeka & Kearney Streets; Western Union Telegraph office (later part of the United States Post Office). In 1928 American Fork became one of just six townships within Bears Ears National Monument. As a result of this designation, much of American Fork's cultural heritage has been preserved and it still experiences significant population growth despite efforts by local officials to maintain a small-town feel. One important aspect that has not changed over time is American Fork's close relationship with its sister city, Pocatello. Residents have maintained regular contact through mailing lists and telephone conversations since they were founded together as two separate communities in 1868. Today both cities enjoy strong ties with each other and share many common interests including music festivals and infrastructure projects such as new roads and bridges
The American Fork valley is a long, narrow region of the Wasatch Front located in Utah and Colorado. The valley was first settled by Native Americans in the late 17th century. The area was explored by Spanish traders in the early 18th century and then claimed by Mexico. In 1821, the United States acquired Oregon from Mexico and made it part of its new country. The American Fork Valley became a part of Utah after that state was carved out of California in 1850.
