This weapon quickly became popular with the club's members and helped them become very successful at shooting competitions and muzzleloading tournaments. In 1907, the American Fork Rifle Club merged with another gunclub in nearby Springdale to form the Springdale Rifle Club. This merger allowed the American Fork Rifle Club to achieve even more success at shooting competitions and muzzleloading tournaments.
American Fork, Utah is a town in Wasatch County, Utah, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. American Fork is located on the Great Salt Lake. The first European to visit America Fork was Juan Diego in 1542. The place now known as American Fork was named for English missionary Francis Young who came there in 1823. In 1847 Brigham Young organized the Latter Day Saints and built his headquarters at Cedar City outside of American Fork. Joseph Smith founded a printing press near Cedar City in 1854 and started to publish the Nauvoo Expositor newspaper there. After Joseph Smith's death, power passed from his son Brigham Young to John Taylor and then to LDS Church president Lorenzo Snow who ordered the printing presses destroyed in April 1862 after learning that they were being used to print anti-LDS pamphlets by members of an unknown group called "The People's Party." After World War II many people moved into what had been Cedar City because of its good schools and proximity to Provo and other large cities. The population peaked at 19,000 in 1980 but has slowly declined since then due mainly to emigration (mainly from Asia) and a lack of opportunities for single-family homes outside of downtown Provo

In 1852-1853 Mormon pioneers arrived from Illinois and started looking for a site to establish their new colony. They found what they were looking for on July 24, 1853 when they sighted a group of adobe buildings on the banks of the Cottonwood River. The name "American Fork" was given to this location by George Atherton after he became aware that settlers had discovered gold there. In 1861-1862 construction began on the Iron Mountain Railroad which connected Cache Valley with Salt Lake City. This project allowed American Fork to become known as one of the most important towns in Utah because it enabled goods and people to be transported easily between these two cities. The railroad also contributed to rising cultural tensions between Mormons and non-Mormons because many people thought that Mormon missionaries should not be working in non-Mormon areas such as Salt Lake City because those areas were under church jurisdiction. The great depression hit America during World War II and caused many businesses around America to go bankrupt including American Fork which made its significant comeback during 1951 when American Fork's mayor Jerald Crouch restored capitalism back into American Fork with a grocery store called "Crouch's". In 1957 Ronald Reagan became president of America and soon announced plans for Anschutz Air Base located just outside of Salt Lake City which would have devastating effects on American Fork since it would have required cutting off access to its water supply
The American Fork Valley was originally populated by Native Americans. The first European to explore and land in the valley was Captain James Cook, who named it after his British Isles colony of Australia. The area now known as the American Fork Valley was explored by Brigham Young and other Mormon leaders during their 1847 expedition across Utah Territory. In 1852, Mormon pioneers arrived on the Great Salt Lake from Illinois, and soon began building a community in what is now called Heber City. By 1861, Heber City had grown to include a population of over 2,000 residents. During the 1850s and 1860s, the American Fork Valley saw an influx of immigrants from Russia, China, India, and other parts of Asia. The region's economic growth came primarily from agriculture and livestock production.
