In response to this migration away from American Fork, several key individuals made efforts to keep their community alive. For example, John Fetterman served as Mayor from 1865 until his death in 1888; James Hales served as Town Clerk from 1889 until his death in 1902;and Lillie Beman served as First Lady from 1902 until her death in 1928. Additionally, Third Ward Relief Society president Emma Smith frequently visited Americafork with her family during this time period to offer support and guidance to residents struggling under new conditions outside Ofallon Creek Canyon south ofPrice Valley

In 1916, American Fork saw its biggest change when it became part of Salt Lake City proper; at this time, it lost much of itsoriginal agricultural character and started becoming more commercialized. However, some aspectsof its old downtown remain popular tourist attractions today such as its pioneer architecture orits nightlife scene which features live music venues and bars throughout the weeknight period
American Fork is located in Weber County, Utah. It was founded in 1847 by Latter-day Saints as a station on the Great Western Trail. American Fork became an important center for Mormon polygamy, and its residents often served as intermediaries between Mormons and non-Mormons. The U.S. Census Bureau reported that the population of American Fork was 10,898 at the 2010 census.
