In 1954, Hennepin Arms Corporation merged with Remington Rand Company and the Wylie Gun Case Company became part of Remington Rand’s firearms division under the name of Remington-Rand-Wylie Incorporated. In 1984, REMINGTON RAND CORPORATION merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Co., Ltd., creating what is now Winchester Incorporated (the parent company of Winchester rifle companies like Winchester Ammunition Company and Wyndham guns). As part of this merger, WylieGunCaseCo became subsidiary branch office for Winchesters munitions business across all U.S.* operations**
Wylie, Texas is a town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Wylie is located on FM 1960 and TX 244. The first inhabitants of what would become Wylie were Creek Indians who hunted deer and other animals along the Brazos Riverbanks. European explorers discovered Wylie in 1839 when they set out from Fort Worth to explore the area, crossing into Texas near present-day Belton. A post office was established at Wylie in 1841, and by 1865 it had acquired its current name of Wilbur Fentonville after General James Fenton, an American military officer who served in Mexico during the Mexican-American War. As a result of its location at the headwaters of both the Brazos River and Palo Alto Creek – site of early oil leases – Wylie became one of America's earliest boomtowns during the 19th centuryTexan oil industry growth accelerated in this region as new discoveries were made along I-10 (now Loop 610) south to Beaumont; east to Denton; northwest to Arlington; and north to Wichita Falls. The railroad reached Wylie not long after it opened up this new Frontier land with its construction from San Antonio through Austin on May 10, 1870 In 1886 John Hogg founded "Hogg's Lumber" here which remains one of local businesses today In 1911 William Hogg Junior founded "Hogg's Hardware" which still operates today In 1916 Gertrude Hogg built her home here that still stands today In 1925 Harry Hogg erected his original cotton gin now known as "the Old Hickory House". After World War II most business activity passed away but some remain including "Hog Farmer", operated by Artis Hagood until he sold it to Vernon Hagood in 1984 During all these years much has changed within and around town - attractions such as The Grove at Wilson Park have been added while others have closed down or moved away such as KFC (closed 1987), JPL (closed 1992), ExxonMobil (closed 2000), Hobby Lobby (closed 2009) etc., leaving behind a mostly unchanged core community that continues to enjoy many memories from more than 150 years ago
