Houston had been born near Clear Creek Station on the Trinity River where he worked as a cowboy before moving westward along the river during the Mexican American War years and arriving at what is now Arlington Heights in 1850. After returning eastward via San Antonio during Reconstruction he established himself as an attorney and landowner near Clear Creek Station before moving his family westward into Tarrant County sometime after 1870 when it was organized under territorial government control following Texas annexation from Mexico). In 1902, two years after incorporation into Village form within Tarrant County - just one year after automobiles were invented - Wylie became home to its first post office which sat on Main Street between Carpenter Avenue northwest of present dayWyllies high school campus & Business District #2 until 1942 when it moved to newer facilities located on Main Street between Carpenter Avenue northwest & US Highway 183 southwest of US Highway 290 east ofpresent dayWest End Mall while still serving customers through mail box delivery until 1978 when new USPS facility opened downtown which remains operational today (& USPS also operates business district located adjacent to current Walmart location) . A second store opened on Maple Ave soon thereafter followed by another store on Third Street just outside present day Texaco Stadium across FM 620 about one mile northeast of Interstate 30 making it possible for people living within easy walking distance either to shop or visit friends or family visiting Dallas or Fort Worth without havingto leave their homes ..... later 3rd street store closed 1964 due too heavy competition from convenience stores opening up throughout community ................. final commercial building built here 1954 ......... Today known as Walmart open since 1977
