Wylie, Texas is a town located in the Midland Hills area of Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 17,681 at the 2010 census. Wylie is known for its annual Gun Show and Collector's Convention which takes place in October. Wylie also has an ordinance that bans shooting from homes without prior written consent of the residents.

The economy of Wylie is based on agriculture with local businesses providing goods and services such as grocery stores, auto mechanics, gas stations, restaurants and Tome convenience stores being some of the most common businesses found in the community. There is also a small amount of manufacturing activity taking place including clothing manufacturing as well as some repairs/repairs activities carried out by individuals or groups outside the local market that specialise in these specific tasks.

By November 8th, 1939, all Jewish people within Generalgouvernement had been deported to concentration camps in Austria and Czechoslovakia under the terms of Hitler's "Aryanization" program. Beginning on December 5th 1941, Japanese troops attacked Pearl Harbor resulting in America joining World War II after years of neutrality

Wylie is a town in Archer County, Texas, United States. The population was 10,895 at the 2000 census. Wylie was founded in 1878 by soldiers of the Union army during the American Civil War. It was named for General John A. Wylie and his wife, Sarah Bledsoe. The first post office in Wylie opened in 1880. In 1896, the name of the town changed to Waco after a fire destroyed most of downtown Waco. In 1907, it merged with Archer City to form a new city block that still stands today as part of downtown Wylie. The current mayor is Rick Nordenfeldt and the city council is made up of nine members plus one representative from each political district (5 Democrats and 3 Republicans). In 1932, Don Bacon became Mayor of Wylie after serving two terms as Mayor of Archer City
Wylie was founded in 1887 by W. H. Dickey, a cattle rancher and surveyor. The town grew rapidly due to its location at the head of the Brazos River, which made it an important transportation hub for settlers and farmers who traveled to the nearby oil fields. In 1912, Wylie became one of the towns in Texas that adopted a state constitutional amendment guaranteeing suffrage to women. In 1937, Wylie residents voted to secede from Texas and form their own state, joining other anti-union Texans in Oklahoma.
