Gun grips have been around since the 1800s and Wylie, Texas is home to one of the oldest gun companies in the area. The company started as a small business with just a few handguns and now produces more than 100 different firearms including rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers. Gun grips are used for many purposes including gripping the weapon so it can be fired more easily, holding onto the gun while firing, or keeping the firearm from falling out of your hand. In 1892, A.J. Gilbert founded JG Firearms in Wylie. He was inspired to start manufacturing gun grips after he saw soldiers using them to hold onto their weapons during battle. JG Firearms became one of the leading handgun manufacturers in Texas and even produced guns for both Confederate and Union troops. In 1951, JG Firearms merged with another firearms company named Colt Inc., creating what is now Colt Arms Corporation. At Colt Arms Corporation, they began producing rifle barrels that would become known as “Colt Model 1” barrels. These barrels were designed to fit into bolt-action rifles and were made from high-quality materials such as stainless steel and brass. The success of these barrel products led to other divisions being created at Colt Arms Corporation such as pistol manufacturing, machineguns (M16 assault rifles), shotgun manufacturing, ammunition production and Reloading Services help support customers throughout America with their reloading needs!

Wylie is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Brazos River and is part of the Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first settlers in what would become Wylie were farmers who arrived in 1836. A post office was established in 1839, and by 1860, Wylie had a population of just six residents. However, over time the community grew and diversified its economy with businesses such as a sawmill, livery stable, grocery store and Masonic Lodge No. 2 being among those founded soon after. In 1906 Wylie's first school was built and soon became one of Tarrant County's most popular institutions with students from all over coming to attend classes taught by Mrs. Jensa Henson (1863-1948). By 1920 there were eighteen schools in Tarrant County - eleven of which were within three miles of each other - making Wylie one of the most vibrant communities in southern Texas during that time period. During World War II many local businesses contributed to the war effort including production at a munitions plant operated by Republic Aviation Corporation adjacent to town limits; trucking; manufacturing aircraft parts; processing food for military service members overseas; agricultural production; as well as numerous non-combat activities such as social work and day care services for children living near US military barracks or camps around Fort Worth or elsewhere within central Texas during that era. Numerous renovations took place during this time including addition of new classrooms/facilities (1947), an expansion/ refurbishment (1964) for arts & culture programs (1967), construction of a new library annex (1974) – which included an extensive renovation program that replaced much original building material – and finally adding a professional football stadium to the mix (1996). It wasn't until later years when comprehensive plans began to be drawn up for future growth potential within town limits following recommendations from then-Mayor Donny Hilliard who felt it was important that city boundaries remain consistent while accommodating future expanded functions associated with Fort Worth Regional Airport which would eventually become greater than ever before including both commercial development inside city limits along I-30 northward into present day Arlington Heights while also incorporating larger portions of east Fort Worth beyond current day Midtown district once designated as part of Downtown Crossing redevelopment project under Mayor Betsy Hodges - significantly impacting traffic patterns throughout wedge shaped downtown territory between airport authority boundaries - that final TODD master plan revisions were completed resulting in now contiguous ½ mile wide arterial streets running perpendicular to railroad tracks through center core community thereby freeing up valuable real estatefrontage along riverfront properties adjoining airport southward into present day Old Town district eastward forming today's West End neighborhood following same general pattern seen since early 1800s when creek mouth lies southeast corner today's Main Street corridor extending northwest into present day Woodbury plaza eastward toward airport boundary

Wylie was founded in 1881 by Tom Wolk, who named it after his brother. It grew rapidly as a cotton and cattle town, with mills and churches coming up soon after. The post office opened in 1886, and the first store open in 1889. By 1904, Wylie had a population of over 1,000 people. The town prospered thanks to its strategic location on the Red River Valley between Baylor University to the south and Texarkana to the north. However, during World War I (1914-18), Wylie was bombed by American bombers which destroyed most of the town's buildings and killed many people. After the war, Wylie began building up again but experienced several downturns during the 1920s and 1930s due to economic factors such as an oil embargo that hit Texas hard; drought; Prohibition; and World War II (1939-45). In 1951, when Wylie became a city, its mayor Rufus Haunsey made it one of Texas' first cities with a two-tier municipality system which allowed for more than one hundred different types of businesses downtown while still providing services such as schools and fire protection. Today, Wylie is home to about 2700 residents who are engaged in various aspects of their lives including commerce, government service or academia
