The two men were looking for a place to store their goods and found an old cotton gin on the edge of town. They named their new settlement after General Andrew Jackson, who had helped them out earlier that year. Over the years, there have been many different companies located in Wylie. In 1925, Armour Ammunition Company was founded here by John Moulton Marlin and his brother-in-law Luther Winchester. The company made rifle rounds and shotgun rounds as well as some air guns and pistols. In 1939, Armour Ammunition Company merged with Remington Arms Corporation to form Remington Rand Incorporated. This company made both rifle rounds and shotgun rounds as well as some air guns and pistols before selling its assets to Browning Firearms Corporation in 1964. Browning continued making ammunition here until 1999 when they moved their manufacturing operations overseas. Today, there are still many different types of ammunition available in Wylie thanks to the variety of businesses that have located here over the years!

Wylie, Texas is a town in Ellis County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Wylie was Fenton Hogue on May 12, 1881. He and his wife were followed by two other families in early 1882. Wylie became a postoffice on July 1, 1882 with the name of Eudora. In 1886 the post office moved to its present location and changed its name to Wylie on November 6 that year as part of a countywide changeover from Indian Territory to Texas statehood. The town began trading goods with Fort Worth before it had an school or church. In 1907 Wylie had its first blacksmith shop and garage opened by J.D. White and his son Virgil Dillard White II; this was one of several small businesses started inWylie during this time period which helped contribute to the town's growth as an agricultural center located east of Dallas along Interstate 10 near modern day McKinney Avenue (now Uptown Drive). The first store closed after only six months due to high competition from larger stores opening up around the same time in Fort Worth...the last store open in Wylie closed down on October 31, 1912 when what is now known as American Legion Post #2 moved into their current location across McKinney Avenue from I-10 inside City Hall just outside downtown Dallas . Another local business operator at this time was A&P Grocery which later became Food Lion grocery chain across most major US cities . During World War II many residents served in the military including USS "Atom" Cdr John S Kerr who patrolled off shorealong Bush Bayou until he retired after 62 years service on December 15 1945 . After World War II ended many people decided they wanted to return home so development around Wylie continued slowly but steadily . In 1972 First National Bank built a large complex consisting of fifteen buildings Along sidestreet between Elm Street and Commerce Street called 'the bubbles'. This building still stands today next door to Walmart
