In addition, White Settlement was a center for social activity because it offered a comfortable living conditions for its residents as well as access to education and cultural amenities that drew many people to the area. White Settlement experienced some significant challenges during its early years. For example, it was difficult to find enough water resources so that crops could be grown successfully and infrastructure such as roads were not yet developed. However, over time these problems subsided and by 1865 White Settlement had become one of the most prosperous towns in Texas.

This increase helped create Anglo-Saxon dominance over Mexican Americans and Native American residents within the state boundaries for the first time since before Christianity began to spread through Texan culture (Bennett). White Settlement also helped solidify Anglo-Saxon power within Texas government structures by creating institutions such as the Bank of Commerce and Public Works Administration (Wright). These institutions helped support Anglo-Saxon lifestyles while maintaining some autonomy for Mexican Americans and Native Americans outside of Anglo society (Ferguson). There were several factors that contributed to White Settlement’s success during this time period:1) The availability of land;2) The absence of discriminatory laws governingacial relationships;3) The arrival of European immigrants who brought with them their own ideas about how societies should be organized;4) Economic opportunity opportunities;5) Social progressivism/liberalism;6) A growing population base that could expand beyond frontier regions
The White Settlement of Texas was a process of white settlement in the area that is now Texas by Anglo-Americans. The original white settlers were primarily Englishmen and their families, although there were also a number of Scots-Irish and Jewish immigrants.
