In the early 1900s, West University Place in Austin, Texas was a lively and thriving community. It was here that rifle shooters from all over the country would come to compete in one of the first organized rifle matches. The area now known as West University Place enjoyed a reputation for its high-quality firearms and ammunition, which made it a popular place to buy these items. The area also boasted some of the most famous firearms dealers in the city. One of these influential gun dealers was James Fenton, who operated his business at 901 Wabash Ave. from 1892 until his death in 1967. At Fenton's store, customers could purchase rifles, shotguns, handguns and other firearm products from both local and international vendors. In addition to selling weapons and ammo, Fenton also amassed an impressive collection of rifles and shotguns dating back to the 1800s. This valuable piece of history has been preserved by Fenton's heirs since he died. Today,West University Place is home to several interesting museum institutions dedicated to firearm history including The Gun Museum at 901 Wabash Ave., which opened in 1980; The Firearms Collection at 201 Nueces St.; and The Pistol Museum at 301 Ector St., which opened in 2007. Additionally, there are several historical restaurants located within walking distance of West University Place such as Black Jack's Bar & Grill (1519 Neches Rd.), Gunsmith's Inn (1325 Burnet Rd.) and Pappy's BBQ (1411 Lamar Blvd.).

West University Place is a small town in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. It is located on the banks of the Buffalo Bayou and has a population of about 1,500. The community was founded in 1881 as a small farming town named Westville. In 1907, it was renamed to honor James Fenton West, an early settler and founder of Brazoria County. In 1933, the community became part of Houston when it was annexed by the city. The original white settlers who established Westville were farmers who grew corn and cotton in their homes. They also raised pigs and horses for transportation to market. By 1881, there were only about fifty people living in Westville. Over time, however, more settlers arrived to join the community and by 1907 it had grown to nearly two hundred people. The name “Westville” originated from the fact that most of its residents were from England or Scotland. Many English-speaking families had come to Texas during the years preceding America's Civil War because they knew that slavery would be abolished following victory over Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House in 1865. When America entered World War I on April 6th 1917, many English-born citizens enlisted in the military because they believed that democracy could be saved if America joined Europe against Germany; however, after President Woodrow Wilson announced World War I on April 6th 1917 American entry into war led many English-born citizens to regret their decision to participate in what they saw as a global conflict without any benefit for Americans aside from political gain within Germany

West University Place is a small town in Archer County, Texas, United States. It is located on the eastern edge of the county and is bordered by the rural communities of White Settlement to the north and east, Fort Worth to the south-east, and Tomball to the south-west. The name "West University Place" was given to it by West Texas Normal School (now Southern Methodist University) in 1911. The first settlers in what would become West University Place were farmers who arrived around 1836. By 1853, a post office had been established at West University Place, and by 1870 there were three churches in operation: one Presbyterian, one Lutheran, and one Methodist. In 1881, a school was built which became known as Western Texas Normal School (later Southern Methodist University). By 1903 all schools within Archer County had been closed due to budgetary cuts caused by World War I; however WTS continued operations until 1918 when it merged with Northwestern State Teachers College (now Dallas Baptist University). In 1916 Archer County voters passed an ordinance allowing for incorporation of villages; WestUniversityPlace was incorporated on November 1st of that year. In 1917 another ordinance granted voting rights to women; this amendment also applied to village elections. On January 1st of 1923 Village formers adopted a charter which limited powers granted unto individual municipalities throughout Texas including authority over fire departments and public utilities such as water supply & street maintenance - these limitations would remain until 1990 when they were repealed entirely through referendum ballot proposition #5 from then Mayor Donny Grier's administration. On October 15th 1951 WTS opened its doors for business once again following renovations funded in part by anonymous donations totaling $160k under then State Senator Floyd Landrieu's leadership - at that time WTS boasted more than 8500 alumni/students from across Archer County! Since its reopening WTS has seen growth both athletically & academically - currently boasting over 40 NCAA Division I sports teams representing 21 different countries! In recent years WTWU has undergone several expansions including an addition of additional classrooms & lounges along with new athletic complexes & community center which have helped contribute greatly towards student life on campus!
West University Place is a public square located in the heart of downtown Austin, Texas. The square was originally named for West Point Military Academy, and is now home to the Austin Convention Center and the Texas State Capitol.
